spawn camping

Postby Blue » Sat Dec 03, 2011 6:15 pm

I had a good time thank you for hosting the game. The only issue that I had was that we had two people spawn camping the grinch army. I was on how disappointed this was handled. I arrived from dying to hear that we have people spawn camping on the hill adjacent to our spawn.
I place my rifle in the spawn and start to climb the hill to see why they are sitting on top of our spawn shooting at people. I arrive on the top with 4-5 other people from our team talking to the two people who were camping. I was surprised to see that it wasn't new people camping. I will refrain of saying their names in the forum.
They claimed they were hunting people on that hill. There was on person on that hill, but the front lines were not even close to where all this happened. That begs the question why they were so close to our spawn. We were all moving off the hill to talk to an admin about the whole event. The two campers started to take hits from he road. Instead of saying hit or going i'm dead etc one of them reached for his rifle. One of the guys from the grinch side said don't do it.
While is rifle was aimed on the camper. One of the campers decided to fire at the people at the road, he then proceeded to get shot by the five people who were right next to me. As he got shot by these five people he kept shooting at the people at the road claiming something about how the five people had a parlay with him, therefor he can shrug off the hits he wasn't calling.
To my recollection no parley was called. The admin showed up after this and we all walked down the hill.We all said our knowledge of what happened and nothing was done. The admin said that they would have a word with them. The fact that these people were veteran airsoft players spawn camping should have meant that they know what they were doing was unsportsmanlike conduct and should have been at least the minimum ejected from the game.
I talked to the admin about the issue and they said that they talked to him. The admin also stated that they had previously talked to them about not spawn camping. If this was a second offence I don't understand why they were not ejected and banned from playing at this field. After this event happened about half of the grinch side left the field.

Why do that? If they were acting poorly, then they should be called out on it. Hopefully that would help them correct themselves...

I wish I was able to show up to this one, but shit happens. I still wanna see that group picture with the toys though!

In spite of my signature I got shot in the head five times. Also dealt with goggles fogging all day. About what I expected for my first game out. But at least I presented a moving target which should have been fun for the other team. :)

Even though my guns failed I had a blast as St. Nick, and my roommate (playing his first Airsoft game) had a lot of fun.

Thanks go out to Alex, Jessa & Camp R&R's staff for bringing this charitable game together. Thanks to Chesty for stepping in as an ad hoc Grinch when McNair's ride failed. Finally, thanks for everybody that came out for a fun day of getting toys for children (and shooting each other in the process).

Now where's the pics? Fred & Matt, get to it!

Good times running and gunning for Santa today even though one of my front teeth was chipped towards the end of the game. If all you can see is a head shot on someone please give it a little time before shooting, they will move eventually.

Big thanks to whoever cleared the three guys out of the bunker at the end. Ivan was able to run another present back for the kiddies.

I also enjoyed the venue and the people running it seem like good folk.

A big thank you to everyone who came (and an apology to those who had an issue with anything that happened - those of you who are talking about the 'spawn camping' issue, thats been addressed with the person who was accused).

We'll have pictures up soon.

Oh, and Santa Won. :) I'll have an after action written when i have time. As it is, im tired, im cold, and im rage-quitting this post. *ragequit* I'll ragecomeback when I'm warm, and rested.

Once again, thank you!

So my daughter must have had fun because she was re-capping the day and said that she peed herself a little when her friend got hit in the crotch by a branch, talk about getting some wood. :D

Thx Alex, Jessa & Camp R&R crew. improvements to the field are great, getting better all the time.

Thx to all those who could make it out today and make some little people happy with their donations.

Of course i had a great time like always. Finally trying out being a sniper was a interesting experience. I must say it was funny shooting some people while in a tree. They searched around for me until finally looking up.

Anyways i had alot of fun, made some great shots, and got to see alot of friends. Thanks again.

Great game. Thanks for hosting Alex. I'll post up my photos today, looks like everyone had fun and you guys had a truckload of toys donated. Thanks for taking the time to put this together.

As for the spawn camper issue mentioned - I think it's unfair and maybe a little over dramatic to say that "nothing was done" when an admin intervened. She did pull those guys off the hill and send them back to respawn. Had I been in her place, I wouldn't have ejected the guy either. I would have done the same thing - unless it was a repeat offense. I'm not sure if it was, the admins I talked too had no recollection of this happening before that incident.

It was a really fun game, I can’t remember the last time I burned through that much ammo.
But most important it was for a Fantastic Cause and I hope that in the end everyone remembers that.
Thank you Camp R&R all the admins and other people who worked so hard to make this event possible.
I hope everyone has a Happy and Safe Holiday
