Seal loadout, vest choice

Postby JoKeR1147 » Thu Dec 01, 2011 6:11 pm

So Ive nearly finished my ranger kit, just got a few bits and bobbles left that I need to fill out and Ive decided my next kit will be a SEAL load-out. Its not set in stone and I'm not sure which time period ill be looking at. I may omit or add to the kit where I see fit because after building my last 2 kits I've realized that actual load-outs most operators run are pretty dang bulky, and Im looking for something a bit more high speed low drag for this next kit. So my question is if I have to chose between a Seal variant Vel tye hugger or a LBT6094 in Tan which should I go for? I like the fact that with the hugger I could have a chest right over the vest that is separate and detachable and I like the look of it, but I have no personal experience with either vest so I was wondering if any of you have a suggestion on this matter.

TL;DR Vel Tye Hugger (Seal Cut) VS LBT6094 WUT DO?

P.S. I don't really care about the whole AOR craze thats going around right now and its existence should not be factored into my vest choice. I will wait until the actual made crap.

Yea unless there was something wrong with that i was gonna get it direct from LBT. Also, if I may ask is there a reason you guys prefer the LBT6094 over the hugger?

Alright then ill probably shoot for the hugger when i get my next pay check. On a side not what about huggers turned you off? They look like they might fall apart fast and that kinda put me off.

There must be a reason SEALs kept the 6094, but ditched the Hugger. I think the 6094 is a better rig either way.

You could get the Eagle DPC/EAPC off SKDtac. Same design, SEALs use it, and it's $100 cheaper.

Yeah, but SEALs generally only wear them in AOR, not MC, RG, or CB.

Well if you're going for a modern impression then you have to use AOR cause it's what they use, unless you want to be STS and even then I'm pretty sure they use AOR1 for their missions in Afghanistan/Iraq but I could be wrong. Talk to Catch22. He has multiple loadout threads on SEALS/NSW. Just remember to get a PACA style vest for under your chest rig. Blackhawk! has one that looks really good and comfortable.

Khaki gear is still being used by SEALs in Afghanistan.

And no, STS guys are still using mostly khaki 6094s. A bunch have gotten AOR1 cammies, but few have gotten AOR1 gear.

I was talking about AOR1 ACU/BDU haha not gear. I suspect you were talking about AOR1 gear. In truth I've also seen very little to none AOR1 gear. I think they just match up RG, OD with AOR2 and CT, Khaki with AOR1 depending on where they're at.

Are we talking SEALs or STS guys? Either way, they both use almost exclusively khaki when they're not using AOR1/2 or other patterned gear.

Really? I've seen a lot of pics with them using ranger green and coyote tan gear as well

If he likes the green thing...he could always run a SEAL set-up in Alpha Green ORC PCU level 5's with khaki gear etc over that.

Gear-wise, SEALs are using-
-AOR1
-AOR2
-Multicam
-MJK/Coyote Tan

Clothing-wise, SEALs are using-
-AOR1
-AOR2
-Multicam
-BDUs
-some DCUs
-PCU Gen2s

The guys wearing Ranger Green gear over BDUs and AOR2 in the pics with the boats are SWCC, not SEALs. SWCC is also using AOR2 gear primarily, now.
