A good book.

Discussion of load-bearing equipment, tactical gear, holsters, BDUs, and other gear related to Airsoft.

A good book.

Now, you all may be saying "this noob posted in the wrong topic... Books cannot be tactical gear!!!" Please, give me a chance.

In June, I was listening to episode 11 of Deadrag Radio (R.I.P.) when they suggested reading a book by the person they interviewed titled "Paintball and Airsoft Battle Tactics" written by Christopher E Larsen. Long story short, I bought the book curious to pry open its interior and consume its essence.

As Larsen said: it is only an enjoyable book for those who are serious about doing milsim. It does have some basic individual tactics in there, but the meat of the entire thing is team tactics and drills.
I personally Loved the book. It was simple (although you need to remember the acronyms well) easy to read, and even had some humorous parts in it (if you read it: Tactical Teddy Bear... find it!)

All in all, I think this book IS a piece of tactical equipment because it is invaluable for a team (and Larsen even suggests bringing the book with you, should you forget something.)

Has anybody else read it? I suggest reading it (I'm a noob, so take it with a grain of salt.)

Never heard of it. I'll make McNair read it and give me a review. He reads and stuff.

As one that has this book in both printed and PDF form I must say it is a very good book.

I have read it Its been out for two to three years now.

It does talk about engagement in the airsoft sense. It takes real world tactics and adds the airsoft variables into it(like distance). The book cover the basics of everything to formations to hand signals to making maps in the dirt. I think all newbie should read this book before they go out on the field. Then take what they have learned and apply it to the real thing.

The only problem with that is it is a lot of knowledge to take in all at once if they read it by themselves. It can get kinda confusing. I would suggest that team leaders definitely buy this book and then when out at trainings focus on a particular aspect or chapter to focus on. That way the people who don't know how to do it aren't bombarded with seventy million new ideas about communication, cover, movement, etc..

Believe it or not I was actually going edit my post to say that.

Teach your team each chapter then practice what you learned as a group. I would even suggest testing your team to see who learning it and who's not. Then you can help those who aren't getting it learn it.

What it contains. If it is worth it.

It sounds like it is, but how's it laid out? Similar to a manual, or more of a "picture book?"

Is it more "military" in essence, or does it cater towards the 1337 0p3r4t0r5 crowd?

It's a fairly good read. I read through it, and I believe that some of the stuff included was a bit above the level of 95% of games, but would work well for hardcore milsim.
It is mostly basic infantry, with a short guide on special operations type missions.
