a perspective on the MICH/ACH

Discussion of load-bearing equipment, tactical gear, holsters, BDUs, and other gear related to Airsoft.

a perspective on the MICH/ACH

Postby MJKramer » Fri Nov 11, 2011 9:02 am

so, I know that we are all different and such... I'm a prime example of being 'different' in the wrong way, though thats not what I'm posting to talk about.
actual topic: when customizing the MICH/ACH, I am used to certain things being attached to it for operational reasons or because the unit SOP requires it. But in airsoft, unless you have a hardcore team leadership and the extra money and wanna be "milsim perfect" I am not quite seeing some peoples logic behind stuff like using a REAL MICH/ACH.

so what I am asking (hopefully in a respectful kind of way) to see what people think when they put certain things on their helmets for airsoft.

ok, thats the implied question answered. what I meant to ask is "why do you put certain things on your helmet?"

I have a real ACH and I put stuff on it so I can look like a badass. That's the same reasoning for half the people here. ;)

I had a feeling that was the case. does anyone ever put something on their helmet because "I need this for its function"?

I would think that a personal lighting system, NOROTOS (if in possession of NVG) callsign, and (if you want) nameplate on the back.

AKA rail, NOROTOS, MPLS, velcro sides and back.
If $400,000 a year is low-class, I'm totally f***ed.

PVS 15s (too be able to see in the dark, duh), A S&S Manta Strobe(so your friends with nods can see were you are at), S&S V-lites(IFF indicators), Norotos 1 hole mount with TATM arm(for the nods, duh), lots of velcro(for patches and other shit), Team Wendy pads(makes the helmet fit better), Ops-Core straps(keeps your helmet more secure and comfortable), And some paint(cause RAGNARS do it).

I have a real ACH because it was as cheap as/cheaper than a fake one, and I have nothing on it because I've been too lazy to get anything for it. It's getting a MC helmet cover and some sort of NVG mount though, maybe an S&S V lite but they're kind of a waste of money for airsoft.

I had a real ACH and someone took it. SOME AIRSOFTER. *glares around*

I wear helmets because it is something I do in the military (I'm still in) so I might as well practice being miserable.

People in CAG put cameras on the NVG mount.

Android puts tac lights on his helmet and then wears it at camping airsoft events that CAG does because he has high encumbrance and low charisma points.

hmm... I have a replica PASGT right now, but when I finally find a good replica ACH (for cost effectiveness), I have pads and harness with hardware for mounting. I plan to get retention straps on the back to do what I faked on my current helmet for the goggles. Thanks to the army, I have gotten used to having a helmet on my head. I have a feeling I'll probably put US Flags on it because its my favorite patch, and a cateyes band with my name on it so that there is no confusion that its mine.
