What's up with callsigns these days!??!?!

Discuss anything and everything here that's Airsoft related.

I total agree with the long name thing. I just need something short.
Something that is descriptive to myself.
Its just got to say "something".
A name I can be proud of.

I might have to change mine to a shorter name, everyone just call me "SIR" from now on. ;)

I blame them for every time someone asked me "What's your real name."
Though this hasn't really been an issue since the days of OSK.

Wait, what's your real name?

OT: I've considered changing my name to "juice," like it is on my team forums. Only problem is, like Halo, I have a severe shazaam giving deficiency.

It seems like people with stupid long callsigns just get them shortened by other people anyway. I only get called"juicemachine" when someone comes up to me and is all "H-h-hey are y-you juicemachine?" Everyone who knows me calls me "juice".

Or Elliott.

Or "hey-you-get-away-from-that-sheep.

...

No, that's Nasty.

Nevermind.

On a tangent, I changed my callsign from "caseless" to "Steve" a while back. See, folks were referring to my girlfriend as "caseless's girlfriend", and that's just freaking ackward, especially in public. "Steve's girlfriend" is a lot easier to say / hear.

Also, if their call sign is too irritating to say, assign 'em a new one. Callsigns shouldn't be picked anyway. They should be assigned (forced upon) people by their team.

If it isn't at least somewhat derogatory, it isn't a real callsign.

I know right!?! We should just say the first syllable and let them figure it out! If they don't know we're talking to them when we say 'hey Var tango to the left 30 meters out' then its their fault. :p

You know, if you just used short-hand callsigns on the radio that would solve the problem. It's easy to understand Red1 or Black6. Of course then people have to be paying enough attention to remember what their unit's callsign is.

Well my call name goes with my last name perfectly. I was given the call-name because of my last name.

Nark wrote:Why is it when people join airsoft and then a team they feel the need to get a callsign that sounds badass but is long as hell and tiring to say over comms over and over again?! I'll admit when I joined I did the same thing but after my first op I thought 'This just won't do.' and changed it.

Whatever happened to having something that was short and easy to say. Not to pick on anyone in particular but one guy on my team went from rejectedpiggy to Brony. Much better don't you think? I will admit that it seems to be the younger crowd that is more guilty of this than the older crowd.

And now there are people that want to use full HAM call-signs to call each other!

People usually start to call me things like "Scurred," which is quick and fine with me.
