What's up with callsigns these days!??!?!

Postby Nark » Sun Nov 06, 2011 10:40 pm

Why is it when people join airsoft and then a team they feel the need to get a callsign that sounds badass but is long as hell and tiring to say over comms over and over again?! I'll admit when I joined I did the same thing but after my first op I thought 'This just won't do.' and changed it.

Whatever happened to having something that was short and easy to say. Not to pick on anyone in particular but one guy on my team went from rejectedpiggy to Brony. Much better don't you think? I will admit that it seems to be the younger crowd that is more guilty of this than the older crowd.

I've considered changing my call sign to just Halo or my last name for that very reason, but its way more effort than I'm willing to invest in the matter.

while my forum name used to be LoneWolf62798003 or MJKramer, or LoneWolf Operator Six Two Seven Nine Eight Zero Zero Three, I've defaulted down to "Kramer" being something I can respond to.

Ivan, what the hell?

Anyone remember "Panasonic"? He changed it to something reasonable when he joined the OSK. That was probably the worst callsign I ever had pitched at me. Only thing worse are people with the same callsign. 98 Boondock Saints names, 5 or 6 Gunny variants, over 9,000 Sniper_____ and _____Snipers.

I blame them for every time someone asked me "What's your real name."
Though this hasn't really been an issue since the days of OSK.

If their name is hard to say you don't talk to them or give them a nickname.

See and none of the younger crowd will take that because they're afraid of being called gay cause they're callsign is peaches.

One of my bike messenger friends' nick name was "Peaches". It was amusing since he always had this creepy guy taking pictures of him at work. Now he hates when people call him that since where he lives now no one knows him by that name.
