POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

When: POSTPONED

Who: Persons of ages 16 or older (with a waiver)

Where: Estacada field (directions are forthcoming)

Price: FREE!

Prizes: A limited edition BSP Glock 19 will be awarded to the winner of the individual competition.

What:

Individual competition -

We will have a timed ruck march that will be broken into two legs of 3 miles a piece. One ruck march in the morning and one in the afternoon. These marches will be timed, with checkpoints, and a list of gear that you will need for safety purposes. The gear list will not be extensive and it will be stuff that you most likely already have.

The gear list will be provided shortly.

At the completion of the second march we will add up the times and a winner will be announced.

While participating in the individual competition you can withdraw at any time.

You can not ask for assistance from other participants in Selection, nor can you give assistance.

There will not be any shooting during the ruck march.

Team based scenarios -

At the completion of the first and second ruck marches we will break up the operators into teams. These teams will be given missions to complete.

There will be teams of hunter/killers out looking for you. If you are hit, you are out.

No re-spawns will be given.

This event is a test of your strength, stamina, and whits. You will be pushed further than you have ever been pushed in airsoft.

This event is not for everyone. If you do not believe you can walk 6 to 10 miles, this event is not for you. We fully expect some people to drop out. Because of the level of difficulty and preparation that is going into this event, we will only be accepting a maximum of 24 operators.

At the end of the day we will announce the winner for the individual event.

Please sign me up; very much looking forward to this style of event.
I do hope that after all this discreditable shuffling we may be taken into action. It has a wonderful way of reconciling a man with himself: and with everybody else, sometimes. - 1st Lt. James Dillon

This sounds really interesting from just the physical aspect of it, even though I've never rucked before.

Will it require any specific skills like land navigation? Sometimes I'm amazed that I can manage to navigate out of my own driveway.

I had wanted to incorporate land nav, but since this is the first go and we're not sure exactly how much staff we'll have, I don't want anyone getting lost out there :D

The march will be on a road and the checkpoints will be relatively close together so nobody falls off the grid. Future competitions will definitely incorporate land nav.

We are also looking for people to serve as OPFOR in this event. We need hunter/killers. There will be a bounty for anyone who kills an operator. We have not yet figured out what the reward will be, but there will be something.

Bill is putting together the kit list, but it's more about having the right gear than it is about weight. Things like a first aid kit, a radio, water, food, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if the ruck ends up weighing something like 15 or 20 lbs. Plus you'll have your rifle.

The thing to remember is that you will be eating in the field. You will be carrying bb's with you. Once we leave the parking lot, that's it. No going back to the cars. You will get dropped off at the insertion point and you will ruck to the rally point for your team. From there you will get a briefing on the mission, you will prep your kit, hydrate, eat something as needed and then it's game on.

Rucking to the rally point is the 6 miles (total)?

Yes. There will be two team-based missions. One in the morning and one in the afternoon. Each mission will be preceded by the 3 mile march. We will take your time from those two marches and the cumulative time will determine who wins the Glock.

The tentative schedule is:

3 mile march
Break (briefing)
Mission
Break
3 mile march
Break (briefing)
Mission

After the final mission we will get everyone together, announce the winner of the Glock and let everyone know how they did for the day.

What time do you intend to start, and end it then?

Also, did you guys really have to schedule this on top of CAG training? I would have really loved to have gone.

Start time is 10

47th MOD will be doing the ruck next weekend to time it out. Should have a clear idea of how long the day will take by next weekend, but I'm guessing we should be done by 2 or 3. Maybe much earlier depending on how fast guys finish the ruck.

We didn't have a choice about scheduling. If we push it out too far we run into significant snow risk at the location. While I think snow would add a certain level of cool to the event, it makes transportation to and from the field much more difficult. It also makes it harder to move you guys around.

SNOWSHOES BIATCHES!

Seriously though I can understand the scheduling concern, I just really wish I could participate...maybe join you guys for the recon?

Whatever the case, I eagerly await your gear list, just because I am curious what all it will include.

Are we allowed to run for the ruck march, or does it have to be hiking/marching? Is it a flat path or uphill, downhill, etc? Can we use our own ruck filled with everything required or only a provided ruck?
