Apparently, I've been voluntold . I should be able to make it, barring unforseen explosive pachyderms or somesuch.

I'll try to remember some ancillary gear, like graph paper, painters tape, 550 cord, and orange cones. I'd appreciate it if those that had them could bring one or more light sources so we can illustrate areas of cover and exposure. Also, if somebody has a whistle and stopwatch, both of these would be really handy to have, multiples if possible.

Just for my own edification, does anyone have the dimensions of the arena, specifically if it is rectangular or has odd projections, and what the legth / width are?

Also, if anyone has "non-standard" AEGs, i.e. platforms that are not typically found in CQB (support weapons, full-length M16's,DMR's, and the like), and would be willing to bring them IN ADDITION to their CQB primary, I'd appreciate it. Sometimes the addition of non-standard platforms radically changes the dynamics of the field flow (increased accuracy at range of DMRs, volume of throw of CSWs, bottlenecks caused by maneuvering with longer rifles, etc.).

Do we know if the arena owners are going to be up for a semi-formal AAR afterwards, or do they just want to observe us playing to see how things work and get positive comments out to the community? If we are going to do an AAR, it might behoove us to budget time for that in advance so we aren't running right up until it's time to leave and then cramming a couple of comments in on our way out the door.

The owners would like detailed information on how the flow of the floor feels and for spot-corrections to be made. We will also be moving things around to try out different scenarios. This is going to be hands-on and direct input so the better the suggestions, the more likely they are to be employed. :)

I really like Nora and Wade because they know what they don't know. You know? Totally open to letting the experts drive the boat. Gotta respect that.

I'm in if you will have me.
Played CQB a lot in the past year, accumulated some minimal non-military experience.
Might be of some help, everybody needs a soft target.

Axis - I've got a prior commitment I forgot about, at exactly the same time on Thursday so unfortunately I may not be able to make it. I'll at least stop by and take a tour if I have time. Sorry about this, again I thought at first we were talking about this week - not the 27th.

Take lots of photos guys!

5 Days to go!

Postby axisofweasles » Sat Oct 22, 2011 12:09 pm

Hey, all!

Just wanted to update here so that we are all on the same blah blah...

Still looking for a couple of brave volunteers to step up and fill the last two slots, respectively, on Echo 1 and Echo 2. I am not an airsoft expert so I would rather leave the input up to you, the experts, as to how the range plays with your equipment, as well as range-owned weaponry. If not, you will force me to put my incredibly dim brother on someones team, and nobody wants that.

I have gotten tons of really great feedback already from a couple of you; thank you! Your advice has been invaluable in this seat-of-the-pants-style planning. As a new member to the airsoft community and to AP, your willingness to step up and help out a perfect stranger is amazing and commendable! I am putting you up for an ARCOM, but it will probably just get downgraded into a nice plaque or maybe a gift certificate to Arby's...

I would like to get as many of you in one place as possible prior to the night of the Trials for some unit cohesion-time. I will be sending out PMs to everyone on the roster with a request for a preferred time & day. I hope we can get at least half of you there :)

Lastly, I feel the need to report that (as of yesterday) I am officially an employee of TAC-OPS Indoor Air-Soft. My role began only in an advisory aspect without any compensation on their part whatsoever. It has since morphed into a consulting/construction role and I am being paid by the hour. I only tell you this so that you understand that I did not start the thread because I was paid to. A paid position was just lucky happenstance.

Talk to you soon!

I would be glad to fill the spot on the Echo-1 roster if that is cool.
I've done a fair amount of CQB, and I would love to give my input on this new place.

Would love to make a separate appointment to come see the place, maybe snap a few photos for the PlayFields section of the website.
