Need advice on next plate carrier

Postby icebullet » Sun Oct 09, 2011 6:39 pm

So my current plate carrier is being sold to my dad for some cash towards a new one. I've narrowed my choices down to a CIRAS. Can anyone chime in on the Pantac CIRAS? I want to replicate these guys in this photo:

I think my eyes are deceiving me, but what is the color of the CIRAS? Multicam or Tan?

Thanks, Poebot

Call the surgeons and tell them to take the day off, because I'll be doing all the operating now.

Looks to be CB.
I've used a CIRAS once and liked it. I keep meaning to pick one up.
I've no opinion on Pantac, but I'm also not a gear snob, so if it's cheap in price, I'm happy. My life isn't depending on my gear in airsoft.

JTech makes an awesome SOCOM Gear vest. I've heard great things about it.

I was looking at the Eagle Assault Plate carrier in MultiCam. Thoughts?

Cant go wrong there. Limiting your self to a pattern like MC limits the use of the vest down the road. A color like CB our RG allows for more flexibility. More so with the CB.

The CIRASs in the posted pic are MJK. EAPC is a relative of the LBT 6094 (same design, owned by the Navy IIRC), and I've heard nothing but good things about the 6094. Tried one on, loved it, but I'll probably end up getting the EAPC because it's $70 or so cheaper.

The CIRAS is generally considered a vest that's bulkiness and heat retention is not outweighed by it's benefits.

This. Its a lot more vest than it looks. If you have tried one on and like the massive amount of coverage it has and it fits you correctly, then the Pantac one is a great choice. You can find the Eagle ones for about 250-300 on Ebay if your willing to wait and hunt around a bit.

If your open to the idea of a smaller vest, then check out the EPC as Nasty said, or if you want to find something in stock,

I have one and love everything about it. I find it more comfortable than my old EPC. It obviously has less MOLLE on it than an EPC and much less so than a CIRAS, but it holds everything I need. I also love the internal MOLLE which lets me stick a shingle on the cummberbund for more mags without adding to the outside of the carrier.

I also have the Banshee PC that the Jew linked to. The quality is top notch and it is nice and compact yet still has plenty of space to carry your gear. Since you are young I am assuming you're not that big yet. The smaller Banshee might be a better fit aswell but will grow with you as I am a large fellow myself and it fits fine. The Coyote Tan looks nice and matches Condor and Tactical Tailor coyote pretty well.
