I'm in need of some boots for deployment, I need good ones that will withstand Afghanistan. I have my eye on some Rocky boots, I have the Rocky SV2 but they won't last through the tour. So need some help. Thanks.

I honestly don't know, but my dad uses Danner boots for his work.

Danner Ft Lewis. Panama, Bosnia, Desert storm, 3 X resoles, still good.

As long as you keep the Danner Boots dry, there shouldn't be a problem.
I had a pair that were really comfortable, but the stitching came loose and I had to fix them.

Not sure what you are referring to. Perhaps you have some of their imports. Mine are Gore tex lined and I can wade in up to 9" of water with dry feet.

Danner builds most of their military stuff ( stitched on soles / Goodyear welt) in Portland, The molded on soles are imported. Boots are like any piece of good equipment, you have to periodically maintain em. ( welt seal / sno seal for the leather)
Mine are pushing 25 years old. The cost is approaching $300 new at this date.

Nikes will fall apart really fast, I thought about danners, the PX sells them. I may look into them. DJ did you go through basic at ft Lewis?

get danner tfx or the danner rat boot if you have the money i have had my danner ret boots for 3 years and still very nice danner tfx's are very nice too and light weight

No. And re the light weight boots, avoid em, when you are on your feet 24/7 for days on end they will not hold up. I really like the lighter weight stuff for hiking etc, but in the stan you will want the sturdier stuff. Mine are black but I think they make em tan now too.

I have a pair of Desert Acadia I've had for about 2 years, I've tried on the Fort Lewis Boots I thought they fit better the Acadias.

These are also a great boot in tan. Had mine for a year and a half, abused them to hell and they're still good as new. Completely waterproof to the top as well, I've only gotten water in them once and that was when I sank up to my chest while crossing a stream.

Belleville 770Vs, I love mine. They've been deployed, came back just fine, same for the user I'm glad to say.

A pair of Danner Acadias lasted 22 months and 23 days in Kandahar. I still have 'em, almost 4 years later.

Although the Oakley boots are more comfortable, they only last 6 months or so. Of course, through US Standard Issue, they are about half the price of Danner Acadias.
