What's your ideal start time for a day OP?

Postby Matt » Wed Oct 05, 2011 3:48 pm

Lately I've been wondering why so many games are starting so late in the day. Some folks like to get up early and get things over with, others tend to move real slow in the morning. How about you?

I like ACTUAL start times of 10:00 or so, but being as airsofters are the laziest creatures known to walk the face of the earth, it's good to set an earlier kick-off just to account for the unrecognized, but undoubtedly real "Airsofter time zone." i.e.: An hour after the posted game start. /smart-aleckness

We held a bunch of private games over the summer and started them all at 7am, but that was only because we wanted to beat the heat.

I don't mind games starting at 10am once the hot weather is gone, since i usually block out the whole day if i play. But 9am would be a little better since they usually always start late.

Someday someone may kill you with your own gun, but they should have to beat you to death with it because it is empty

I like starting around 10-11 and playing until sunset or so.

7am start. It kicks the booze out of the system quick that way. Also it makes it interesting because people go into a full day of combat wearing way too much snivel gear.

depends on time of year when sunsets and sunrises. Depends if there is a day game or night game scheduled for the same day. Depends on how many potential pre-registers there are from the night before.

I figure the average is somewhere between 10-11am

Just as there as those that complain about starting later in the day, I don't understand why we can't sleep in and have to start early considering most fields are average 45min to a hour drive for most players which means most players are leaving around 6-7am to go play airsoft to make a 9AM game.

I don't pay much attention to start times as they don't influence my attendance very little to none at all. I look at the game, price, location, etc.

I like a start time of 9am so that I can drag my lazy a$$ out of my tent at 8 and have enough time to mutter about the cold for awhile before starting breakfast and prepping equipment.
Though my opinion isn't particularly compelling since I haven't gone to a game in over a year :(

Some people like to get their monies worth with a good day of play, 9 is usually a good time. The trend of late starts really affected play during the summer and probably contributed to more problems than it helped. If you start early people are more likely to quit earlier when it's hot and they begin to tire/dehydrate instead of pushing through because they want more than 1-2 hours of play.

I'm so used to 1000 start times that a lot of the time I just assume games start at 1000. I care less about when the start time is and more about them starting at a standard time.

I say 10am start, but it should be advertised as 0930. That way when it starts at 1015, it's only slightly later then the start time. I'm tired of this "start at 10" but really it starts at 11. Start time is when game should start, not when briefings should start.

If I wake up too early in the morning I have bad poopin'. I'm not sure why. I like leaving home at 8 no matter where the field is, so I like a start time that panders to that.

I agree about stating an early start time to get people to show up for the time you actually want to start the game. Works for getting the team together.

But then you have tool sitting on your lawn 3 hours before you planned the game to start.
