How-do?

Axisofweasles here, currently stationed at Ft. Couch in the NE sector of Portland, OR. Former trooper with 1/14 out of Ft. Lewis, WA. I spent quite a lot of my time there drilling in MOUT CQB and was a CQB instructor/range safety for about 8 months before our first deployment.

I have been looking to get a serious AEG (all serious offers for M4 variants accepted) and start hitting some events, load-out deficient or not! I have a two-part question/request...

Are there any good indoor CQB ranges in the greater Portland-area?
-Caveat: Has anyone ever attempted to reserve or use any of the Ft. Stevens or Battery Russell structures near Seaside? How did that go?

Is there a need for someone well-trained and seasoned in MOUT CQB maneuvers and tactics within the AP community? I want to offer my knowledge and expertise to anyone that thinks they could benefit from it!

Thanks for reading! Looking forward to your input.

welcome to AP.

the only indoor place running right now is the one near the hillsboro airport (cant remember what they go by these days) but its small and is typically only frequented by 15 year olds during their open hours. there has been at least one official event at the rilea MOUT site, it went fairly well and i still have the paperwork somewhere to request it. the main problems with that area are that it is so far away from most people, and the army has it in the forms that they can pull it from you with zero warning and for any reason, which would suck the day before an event.

there's always a use for trained guys, there are classes from time to time where people who know their shit can share with other interested members of the community. Tim Jensen (variable) hosts some airsoft related training events of different levels from time to time to help build the community, he might be interested in bringing in another instructor.

Sir Stubby and Camp R&R welcomes you to AP. We would be interested in your opinion in our lay out of our village, we have it all planned out and on paper, just not built yet. If you come out for Mjat or The Horde we can talk to you about it. We also want to do some classes and such on next years schedule.

Welcome, Sir.

Oregon Airsoft (Cross The Line Outdoor Adventures) is not too bad if you get there during the week when the invincible kids aren't there. I think some teams from AP rent out the field for private use, and it's a good deal. The guys that own the field are helpful too.

Scouts out! I was in M113's and Strykers, respectively. 1/14 Cav was originally 1/32 Armor (same as Elvis and Axel Rose  ). 1/32 was deactivated and all the armor was phased out once the word came down that we were becoming a recce squadron instead of an armor squadron. As the Strykers were being built, our "new" unit was loaned some upgraded LAV variants used by the Canadian Army (yes, there is a Canadian Army :guffaw:). These rides had AC, heated water dispensers/MRE cookers, benches to rack out on instead of those crappy cupola folding chairs... nice.

Kinda miss the Stryker sometimes when traffic is bad down around the tunnel on 26E.

Wouldn't mind taking a gander at that myself when I head out your way.
As with AoW, lots of tools and a couple of opposable thumbs available to assist.

Welcome aboard Mr. Weasles!

A quick update:

I just purchased a G&G arms M4 variant (tan rig) and a pretty nice OD MOLLE chest rig on Friday from Airsoft Outlet NW. Thanks to Adam, Andrew, Jesse and everyone else that I cannot remember from the AONW crew! Your guidance and input was much appreciated and quite refreshing, as opposed to the people at a certain surplus store that shall remain nameless. Polar opposites with regards to customer service and a willingness to impart information to a self-admitted airsoft noob.

Thanks again and I look forward to joining you all at Camp R&R this coming weekend.
