KWA turned Single-Action

Discussion of GBB (gas blowback) replicas.

KWA turned Single-Action

Postby Sahronax » Thu Sep 22, 2011 9:35 pm

My KWA Sig P226, purchased in early May, has encountered a problem- when loaded and fired normally, the slide does not get kicked back far enough to rest the action and load another round; but if I pull the slide back manually, it works just fine for one shot. In effect, my GBB pistol has turned into a single-action handgun. When fired normally, the slide usually (but not always) kicks back roughly an inch or so at most and sticks there, and every so often the slide does not move at all.
I'm fairly clueless when it comes to gas guns... Help...? :(

EDIT: I have been using propane and silicone, and TSD .26g bio BBs, should that become relevant.

My father had the exact problem intermittently with his KWA M9 NS2 PTP.

It was an issue with the slide - I was pretty sure there was too much resistance towards the back because two nubs of the metal were machined to a point that they were always contacting the rest of the gun (reciever?). They were on the back of the slide, and just appeared to be a little bit off from ideal specs.

We sent it back on warranty repair and they replaced the slide, although I'd say a little skillful and careful dremel work would've fixed it.

Check it out and see if you can find spots that are obviously rubbing, snabbing.

Don't know if that's it, but one idea..

Contact KWA for warranty repair.

Otherwise, sounds like a broken blow back cylinder. I had 3 in my KWA P226. It sucks, but they should fix it for you.

It's not the common broken blowback cylinder where they break the nob. If it was, it would not chamber a round correctly by hand. It could be cracked and adding friction/leaking gas, so you might check that. The most common issue there is usually grit build-up that adds too much friction to the cycle.

I did strip it down a bit and did ( what I thought to be) a decent job cleaning and lubing the slide, with no noticeable change in performance.

Probably a stupid question, but how long does the KWA warranty last? I thought it was 45 days, I'm a smidge past that deadline now...

silicon spray might help get what's left of the grimy bits on the slide. It did wonders for my USP. I tried cleaning it with regular oil and some cleaning cloths which helped but didn't eliminate the problem until I used the spray for all the little grooves that i couldn't get to. Hope that helps.

Commie, my blow back cylinder fractured in a different way... That's the original, plus a replacement, and there is a replacement for the replacement in the gun that is broken in the same way.
