G-cod vs blackhawk serpa

Postby Stray » Mon Sep 12, 2011 1:30 pm

Does anyone have any experience with either of these holsters? Which one seems to be the better deal as for holdin the pistol more secure and would give you a better drawing motion? What about attachment options to molle a belt?

I like my SERPA. Many different mounts, good retention, and quick access. Never heard of G-cod...

I still need to try a Safariland. That being said, I absolutely love my SERPA holsters. It would take something pretty freaking amazing to get me to change brands.

My serpa is freakin amazing. I mooched it off a cop friend and it fits my KSC G19 perfectly. u can get a serpa for $25, G-Codes are overpriced holsters sold by ASGI. get a serpa, those things kick a$$, and theyre dirt cheap. remember, G-Codes dont even come with the mounting hardware, unless u buy a package deal. a serpa comes with the paddle and belt mount.

I personally like soft shell holsters, but that's just me. I see a lot of people use them at work and they swear by them. I liked it, but felt very heavy.

I liked my SERPA(s) until I used a Safariland. It's all personal preference.

I loved my Serpa enough I got two more- one for my airsoft Sig and one for my airsoft Glock. Don't have any experience with G-cod. I know Blackhawk makes a Molle mount for the Serpas to attach to, but I prefer mounting the holster on my leg for ergonomic reasons. You may be able to get the Serpa platform and not have to deal with Molle at all.

It depends on your needs. I prefer Safariland and G-Code SOC rigs over others because I can use the same holster to retain 2-3 different types of pistols. Yeah...I'm not kidding. You just have to know ahead of time, which holster models hold which pistols.

BlackHawk USP Compact SERPA will hold:

HK USP Compact, SIG SAUER P226, Sig Sauer P6, and a few more that I can't remember at the moment.

Safariland if you can afford it, SERPA if your looking to keep the price down/ need lots of holsters for lots of guns. I have both and love them both.

USP compact SERPA also locks (though its loose as hell) a P22.

What makes the safariland holster better then the serpa? A friend if mind is going to let me have a 1911 serpa for my kember replica. I haven't tried it on or anything but it seems to hold very well and with that I guess lock that goes into the trigger guard it seems to hold very well. I have always used a condor soft dropleg for my mk.23 but was told that once I go hard case I would never go back. I want to expand and try different replicas out to see what handles best for me. Such as the p226 1911 maybe a glock if I could find one or a usp or 5.7x28. What ate some of the pros and cons of the safailand and serpa?

Regarding Serpa's:
There have been a few discussions on real steel forums about the locking mechanism failing and people not being able to draw thier side arm when needed. I guess it is prone to becoming clogged with dirt/mud, sand and snow.
Also some people stated that they didn't like using thier trigger finger for the lock release because under high stress a ND could occur.
