Alright, so what stupid thing am I doing wrong?

The most basic thing that comes to mind is, are you inverting the gas cylinder?

Yeah, some people fill the mags sideways and it fills with already expanded propane rather than liquid propane.

Personally, I hold the mag in my hand until it's slightly warm to the touch, then stick it into my pouches and forget about it. Recently filled mags go to the "rear" of my belt line so I pull them last.

When I got my old USP compact from KWA I had this exact problem. It fired like 7 rounds before the mag ran out of gas, no leaks, no problems with the gun. I brought it in to my local AONW, and they just lubed the mag, no payment neccessary, After that, It shot like 30 rounds before running out of gas. So try lubricating the magazine and gun. Hope I helped
