SRC G36C barrel extension

If I was to get an extended m4 barrel and put in in my src/tsd g36 gen ii would i need a new cylinder?

Yes you would want to change the cylinder out for one ported to match the volume of the M4 length (363mm) inner barrel. See how easy that was?

Just the cylinder should be fine. And if your hopup is "total crap" then your first upgrade should be a new hopup, new soft bucking, and a concave spacer.

O/T here but, OP look into an R-Hop (or IR-Hop).

Remember that SRC hop-up chambers are proprietary in design if your going to be fiddling with it.

And with tightbores, go for quality or just stay stock.

Prommy's, Edgi's, and DB's are my personal favorite (also the Lonex [rebranded as Bravo] barrels are pretty nice)

well, getting a new hopup is risky because they are different from model to model. There are techs who know which ones to get if you have to go that route.
sometimes extending the barrel length won't do it, but putting the exact same inner barrel LENGTH while putting a TIGHTER barrel in it (6.03 at the tightest) will make it more accurate. I have done something like this with my JG G36C.
If getting a longer weapon is what you desire, the G36K is your better option.

I have an SRC G36E (The long version) and yeah the hop up is decent, but its not crap. The main problem is that the hop up has a hop up arm with a built-in concave spacer-esque nub that can't be removed. The thing I did was get a hop up arm from another G36 hop up and switch them out and use a different nub. What you could do is look down the barrel from the beginning of the hop up and see what shape is made when hop-up is applied. If its a perfect half circle, then pick up a KWA 2GX bucking or a firefly bucking because then you get a more consistent and efficient hop up. Also you don't wanna extend the barrel because you can get good results if you just look into upgrading the following:

2GX bucking or Firefly.
Madbull or Prometheus EG (both are 6.03mm)
Dental floss mod the bucking (look it up on youtube)
SP110 spring

Hope this helps! I had issues with my G36 and it was frustrating. Now My SRC G36 is now an MG36 and after minor tune ups and a new spring, it is awesome!
