E. Vancouver father and son looking to practice locally.

Postby makaluch » Sun Aug 07, 2011 3:57 pm

Just stopping in to say hey and introduce myself. I'm hoping to find a great place to practice right here in Vancouver, Camas, or Washougal.

I'm a 39yo husband and father of two, and an IT professional specializing in Macs and network infrastructure. My son is almost 12 and just got his first real airsoft gun; a G&G M4 (CM16 Light Carbine). I am also interested in playing but my gun choice depends on style-of-play and how often my son and I can play locally. I am most interested in regular practice with disciplined CQB, arena-style, or tight-knit team strategy scenarios.

Any regular Vancouver, Camas, or Washougal practices or scrims that walk-ons can participate in? My son and I both have a lot to learn, but we're definitely eager!

Thanks guys! So far I've found SOTA, 1st Recon, and 808th? Can anyone from these groups chime in and let me know if you'd let my son and I check out a practice and/or try out someday?

there are all types of teams and skirms/practices. all over. check out the events calendar and come meet some people! cqc is a little smaller venue for most, usually outdoor but, they are still largely mil sim based.

Yeah, I'm seeing 13+. My son will be disappointed. I'll have to find a place where he and I can practice somehow. Maybe arena in Beaverton? I have lots of paintball experience (airball, hyperball, and some woodsball) so that should be tons of fun.

Meanwhile, I'll stop in with local groups if possible. I'd like to see what it's all about. There's much to learn. I still haven't bought myself a gun yet.

Some hosts will allow him to play as long as your there playing along side him. Its all up to the hosts though. Never hurts to ask.

That's cool. Yeah, I'll ask for sure. Nobody's got your back like your Dad does! ...first to beat you down, and first to take a hit for you. :)

Sir Stubby and Camp R&R welcomes you to AP. We have a game this week end, age limit is 13+, but if you play next to him and take accountability for him he can play. Camp R&R Presents “Weasel Dust Skirmish”

Awesome! I appreciate the courtesy Sir Stubby. My son is super excited to be invited. However, I need to get myself a replica and both of us some gear...rated glasses and some BDUs at the very least. I'll take him out to do SOMETHING airsoft this weekend though. Maybe spectating and meeting a few of you guys at the event will be good enough for him? Doubt it... I'll probably just bring him out to the arena out past Beaverton :)
