So someone who doesn't have an account is going to read a handbook for a game that their friend is signing them up for?

Jester316 wrote:Bulldog: whats your point? That you don't read the handbook before a game? Fantastic. You are contributing to the long and drawn out briefing we have to receive because people don't read a simple document that outlines the things you need to know about the specific game.

Saying you don't read it because all games are the same is retarded. Each game has it's own quirks. Yes, every game involves hits and outs, blind man, registration, chrono,... but there are many other things that are game specific (such as grenade rules, vehicle rules, scoring, winning, respawn,...). These things do not carry over from game to game, so you cannot know what a handbook will say because you read one 10 years ago.

Short of handing out a handbook at each event, having players sign up for an account here gives them access to it, so they can read it. If they don't read it, well they had access to it (versus a person who doesn't have an account).

I agree fully with you. I mean how hard is it to make a FREE account. I also agree with the fact that not every game is the same such as trying to use "Backyard" airsoft rules in a game such as LOWIII

Just as likely as someone who is forced to make an account is.

True I think the only solution that appeases everyone is just to post a sign in the camping area

But the argument is of approaches to a solution. And I don't think any solution will appease everyone until they see it working. So as Rick is doing, try out your method and see how it affects your games.

At the risk of sounding cheesy, just like police against crime, we can never hope to win, but we can do our best to make it as small and infrequent as possible. I don't believe the problem will ever be solved, but we can and should do what we can to make the problem as small as possible.

If we implement a ID tag type of system initially the registration process will be a bit slower but in the end it will be quicker, waivers will be signed and on file. Some of initial process can be done before hand with emails and forms that the attendees can fill out ahead of time. And what is wrong with being a bit more organized?

Nothing is wrong with being organized. I have been trying to get the AP folks organized ever since I started playing. Truth is, no body wants too. They all think its a backyard, behind the scenes hobby that doesn't need organization. But then they get on here and phony pony about EVERYTHING, an organization could fix. Bottom line is, nobody is going to be happy with everything an organization has to offer, but until there is a sanctioned group, airsoft will be nothing more that backyard events held at paintball fields forever.

Thread closed.....well at least it should be...

Good Lord. Don't you people know it's a holiday weekend and you should be out enjoying yourselves like I was yesterday?

1. Jester, Ivan and others are correct. Making someone signup for a forum won't make them read the player's handbook.

2. Many have said it already, but it needs said again. MORE ADMINS. More importantly, more informed, knowledgeable admins. Not dumbasses who stand in fire lanes and BS, but ones that know how to watch game play without interfering in it. Need a lesson on that? I know several who can provide it, myself included. Also, as Wisenhamer suggested, admins who make decisions and don't take shit would be nice, too.

3. ID cards are good in principle. I hope they work. But I doubt it.

I would like to put in my 2 cents as well. I would like to start by saying that I ran a paintball arena for a couple years as a teenager. That being said admins have to be harsh and willing to kick some one out if they see repeat infractions. As for the card idea I like it and would like to purpose something that works in a nonairsoft group that I am part of. Make it so that people have to show their basic knowledge of the rules to play and that they are safe players. I do not see how this van happen outside of league play. I have been encouraging players down in Eugene to go in that direction and I would like to see it everywhere.

In other words Chesty is correct and I for one would be happy to put in my free time to help organize and unify airsoft in the NW. This helps us in many ways outside of game play as well if California had been organized and unified they wouldn't be facing the prospect of the sport becoming silly if not destroyed completely.

It's the gameplay confusion due to people not paying attention the specific event rules that causes a lot of problems and confusion.

I understand what he wrote but there are parts to it that I don't agree with in regards to safety, thus my comments.

Wombat Six Wrote:

"The flaw I see in the calls to read all the rules and safety regulations at some sort of group briefing is that those of us who have read the rules and understand the safety regulations are essentially being punished for doing what we're supposed to do..."

It is a dangerous assumption to make that people know safety and it does not need to be fully adressed. Most of the safety briefings I have witnessed have been woefully incomplete and, for the most part, done off the top of the head. I am not advocating an hour long reading of the players handbook (A sign posting or handout with just the things that will get you kicked out in a hurry is sufficient) What I am doing is challenging future originizers to give more complete briefings.

If the post was not about safety, leave the word safety out of the post. We need to be even more dilligent in these times with legislation against airsoft. We need to demonstrate that safety is one of our primary concerns. Not just know that it is because "it's obvious."

I'm done. I'm going out to enjoy the weather....

You make a valid point. I've removed the references to "safety regulations" as skippable material. That being said, the idea of listening to an admin read a 9 page document on how to play the specific game we're playing holds little appeal to me, personally, as a player who reads the material.

What if a player doesnt want and ID badge and or loses it. Will said player have to pay for a new one. What are the consequences of this? Are you going to denei someone game play if they dont want an ID card?

This is whats going to happen.

Johnny69 shows up to event.
Host: You need an ID card before you register.
J69: I was in the navy, and I don't want/need one
Host: Well if you want to play, you need a card
J69: OK fine, ill take one.

J69 plays game, hacks all day, and then finally gets called out by an admin. Dude, whats your handle?. Umm I am Chesty_01, why? Casue I am black listing you, let me see your id card. Oh cant find it but I am chesty_01 dude

Then I get upsidedown. Again, sorry to be negative but in the off chance and admin actually does something about hacking, (not likely) the dude wont show you his card, i guarantee it. then he will just be back the next game doing the same shit with a new card.

We need a league....Why don't you people get it.
