But how does them having an AP account allow for better enforcement of the rules.
Again, what is the difference between DeltaSniper89 and a +1?

the options i can think of so far:
1.keep it as it is
2.eliminate it
3.keep it as is but restrict the amount of guest one person can bring
4.give an alternative option for non AP people to sign up with out an account
5.allow the +1's but limit the amount each team can have

I don't see how this would affect the problem.

code789 wrote:4.give an alternative option for non AP people to sign up with out an account

It'd be simpler to create an account than create a way for non-members to sign up.

code789 wrote:5.allow the +1's but limit the amount each team can have

Same as number 3.

Try actually having an admin kick a hacker off the field. That's a great solution to that problem.

IMNSHO, there should simply be more admin, and they should be complete hardasses. Have them take a pic of the offenders, and post them afterwards, making sure known hosts have a copy. Sure, we all pay our $35 or whatever to play, but I'm not paying to play with cheaters and my entrance fee doesn't give me the right to play like a douche.

The rule breakers won't follow rules that are not enforced.

Admins + Enforcement + Public shame = Better game play.

3. is for the person to be responsible for the guest they are bringing
5. is to reduce the # of people not reading the rules
we could probably combine the two

I am one who would be signing up a +2 or more. I haven't done so yet, but i will be. I have gotten 1 in touch with riddick so far, and with others for equipment purchases.

My +'s don't have ap accounts, they don't want them. They may look on ap 10 minutes a month at most. They are not forum trollers or care about reading through countless entries to sign up for a game. Then, as ap goes, get ridiculed for posting something in the wrong section or asking a n00bish question.

Sorry to say, but AP is hostile to new accounts as a whole. My first month posting here was horrible.

If you require each +1 to have an account, this will in no way change anything other than knowing who is who. But, when you have each person sign a waiver, doesn't that do the same thing?

Wouldn't it be easier to ask the player/hacker/cheater at a game what their name is, write it down, share it with other promoters, then keep a list at the sign up's? Maybe not, but would seem to get more results.

My +1's wont get ap accounts plain and simple, but they are all nearly 40 yrs old except for my son, who i wont let get an AP account.

Bottom line is, i'm responsible for who i bring. If my 15 yr old son does something wrong, i'll take responsibility for it. If my 40 yr old friend does something against rules, i'll deal with him on it, then i'll be responsible to the admin for it along with him.

I don't think there is any reason that people who want to participate in a event posted on AP can't sign up for an account. This does a few things. Holds that player responsible, barring we actually hold them responsible (not just say we are). It allows AP to grow in numbers and possible spreads the wealth of knowledge about airsoft in general, and it almost shoves safety and responsibility down the new players throat.

Rbm33: Do you make your +'s read the event thread? Do you make them read the event handbook? Or do you say "Hey, there is a game on XXX, wanna go? Cool, I'll sign you up. See ya there."

What's stopping Joe Shithead from signing up on AP as 'Gangbanger6969' just to sign up for an event and either A: Not show up, B: Not reading the game rules, or C: Hacking and ruining the experience for everyone else?

How is it going to make any difference having them sign up on an online forum with a faceless profile?

The only way I see this working is making EVERYONE with an AP account have a photo of their face posted next to their name. I know plenty of people who wouldn't/ don't want their likeness available on the web, so that idea's out.

As for the being sure everyone reads the rules prior to an event, there is absolutely no way to enforce this. A solid pre-game briefing is going to be the best way (although not fool-proof) for the players to have a solid understanding of the ruleset.

Some of the people I bring out to airsoft games are apprehensive about coming. Not everyone is going to want to make an account just to try something they're not actually sure they will enjoy. I'm more than happy to be held accountable for the people represented by the + next to my name.

Don't forget; this is a game of honor, but it seems like more and more of the players it is attracting simply do not care.

Personally, I'd rather just have invite only games. But that's probably just a pipe-dream.

Just to echo what Ivan said; AP has 9832 users registered right now. Just over 100 have post counts above 15.

Registering for AP does not mean that we have some way of identifying them.
Tell people at the game what the rules are, so they cant claim to not know them, then enforce those rules. Problem solved.

I'm gonna agree with Tombstone on this one.

The main thing is strict enforcement of rules, you can't have admins coming up and saying "look for the 7th time, you've gotta go to the respawn when you get hit, not not 10 feet back, ALL the way to the respwn"

It has to be more like a first warning, second incident get's them kicked off for half an hour and the third they are ejected for the day. Period.

Doing this will require games to have more admins keeping a close eye on everyone, but you know, I think that anyone hacking will either straighten up or stop playing real quick if there are enough admins to actually ensure that the rules are enforced.

At many big paintball events every participant is issued a Player's Card. Usually these cards contain the player's name (verified by official state photo ID), their roster number and any other pertinent info. You have to flash your card as you enter the field to a ref. There are places for marks such as passed chrono safely, completed objectives, etc. Any infractions such as caught wiping, flagrant disregard of rules, unsportsmanlike conduct, chronoing hot on the field, etc get a hole punch from a ref. Three punches is ejection from the game with no refund. Different promoters have different ways to deal with a lost Player Card (genuinely lost or intentional), the most effective is a $20 replacement fee or no more gameplay for you. Getting caught with another player's card is instant ejection.

This system does a pretty good job of keeping everyone in check.
