cleaning my gun

so this forum is the most knowledgable forum of airsoft im a part of so i know you can all answer this.


My friend says i can clean my echo1 stag 15 using a REAL gun cleaning kit, i own one for my 30-30 and it has the parts you find on a rod that comes with an airsoft gun, so would i be able to use the lube and oil and such on my airsoft gun without damging it?

No, It will damage your Echo1.

Periodically swab your barrel and lube moving parts. Be warned that some lubes, even those used on your real firearms, can damage AEG internals. You need to use 100% pure silicon spray when swabbing your inner barrel. Be sure to turn your hopup down all the way before doing barrel maintenance. Use the cleaning tool that came with your AEG and insert a piece of clean fabric (like a cotton gun cleaning patch) into the small notch at the end. Apply a small amount of silicon spray to the cotton patch and run the cleaning rod down the length of the barrel, slowly pull it back out while twisting. Repeat the process until the cotton/cloth comes out clean. Most cleaning rods have a mark that indicates how far you can insert the cleaning tool without contacting the hopup, do not exceed this mark! You may also want to apply silicon spray to some of the metal on metal external moving parts, if your model has any. You may also want to apply a single drop of silicon into the feed port, run about 100 rounds through it after you do this to clear any excess silicon. (The first shots may be erratic).

yes and no. Don't used solvents, oil or bronze bore brushes there is a plastic slot for the .22 cal(for the cleaning patches) you can used that along with silicone oils to clean your fun.

were can i get silicon spray, besides airsoft outlet, would i be able to get it at fred myer or somethin?

ps: isnt silicon spray like that stuff you spray into yuor computer when its all dusty?

WD-40 will warp plastic parts. General NONO for airsoft.

Duster Gas is what you use when your computer is all dusty... or for filling gas in most Japanese Gas Blowbacks.

You can find Silicon Oil at many hardware stores.

That stuff you spray on your computer when it's all dusty is called air.

You could try to find it at Fred Meyer, but your best bet would be the gun section of a sports store, or an electronics store. You can find it on pretty much any airsoft website...

^A good regurgitation of the facts any airsoft forum / store will tell you. Another lesser known tip:
Silicon is safe but Teflon is better.

I have used Tri-flow brand lubricant for years. It is totally airsoft safe, non-staining and it is a teflon based lubricant.

It coats the surfaces better and leaves a longer lasting layer of lubricant on the parts. Get the dropper bottle though as the spray can be messy. Harmless but messy. It is also okay to use it on previously silicone lubed guns.

I also put a drop in the BB entrance as mentioned above, before each game. It takes about 90-100 shots for the hop-up to start grabbing properly but it is much better on your gun to have it lubed up. It will feed better and be less likely to jam.

It is also available at hardware stores and bike shops.

It may come in different thicknesses; go with the lightest one or else it can be like lubing your gun with jelly. Also stock up on ear cleaners for those nooks and crannies. Just be sure to make sure the tip doesn't tear up in the gun and leave cotton everywhere in there.

thinner is not always better spray silicone doesn't last long I think you meant Q-tips (or cotton swab) instead of ear cleaners

Well if you've been to the hobby store i've been to, they sell REALLY thick silicone oil, it was like honey. And yes, ear cleaners..cotton swabs..Q tips, whatevs

Yeah i have that stuff for lubing parts on my 3030 and my bike, its in a black bottle and it says TRI FLOW with teflon,

Ps: im just talking for cleaning my barrel and lubing it, would this stuff still work? do i just spray a bit down the barrel or do i spray a little on one of those tiny 2cm by 2cm gun cleaning cloths and stick it on the rod thing and put it down the barrel?

Put a couple drops in the BB entrance and crank the hop up all the way off. Then use your cleaning rod with cleaning patches (Papers) I cut them into quarters and then fold them in half, then thread it though the rod tip and wind it around. Place about 5 drops on the patch and send it down the barrel twisting it in the direction you wound it so it doesn't unravel inside the barrel. Keep twisting it all the way back out. Repeat until the patch comes out clean.

You can use coffee filters if you run out of patches.

i have it in the can though, so would i have to spray it onto the cloth or can i just do something that makes it drip out?

You can spray it in short bursts or you could spray it into a ziplock bag, and dribble it out of there. If you have the straw that hooks up to the nozzle, you can lightly depress the nozzle so it drips out of the straw.
