Paintball industry basically chucks airsoft under the bus...

Discuss anything and everything here that's Airsoft related.

Seriously^^

Its sad that all this is done for money and has nothing to do with protecting people. This is sounding more like politics every day.

Airsoft is banned = some ex-airsofters play paintball instead
More consumers = $PROFIT$
So of course the paintball manufacturers would toss us under the bus. A lot of the other people still support us.

This discussion was in progress yesterday:
http://airsoftpacific.com/viewtopic.php?t=36952

I reiterate I don't see the logic in this exclusion when there are paintguns like this:

Oh yeah....paintball is so popular and has so much money that their lobbist would blow the whole bill out of the water if they were not excluded. Nice job Legislators......

I'll let you shoot me with low powered .177 before I'll use a paintball gun.

Full eye/body/face armor required. No visible skin.

Not to mention all the new players going into airsoft would opt for paintball instead.

Thankfully if you look at that FB link's comments, it appears that most paintballers were dismayed by their industry's actions, and believe that both sports must be saved, because if one goes, the other has a greater chance of following.

And totally +1, for sure.
Our capitol is only 18 miles from my location..so I'll likely be there in calm and collective but professional and assertive support against the proposed bill.

my post was removed too... and i only pointed out that paintball was only exempt with one line :banghead:

i wonder what would happen if some politition integrates
section 16700(b)(2):A spot marker gun which expels a projectile that is greater than 10 mm caliber.

with

section 16700(b)(3):A device where the entire exterior surface of the device is white, bright red, bright orange, bright yellow, bright green, bright blue, bright pink, or bright purple, either singly or as the predominant color in combination with other colors in any pattern, as provided by federal regulations governing imitation firearms, or where the entire device is constructed of transparent or translucent materials which permits unmistakable observation of the device's complete contents, as provided by federal regulations governing imitation firearms.

just one of the many possibilities this bill could go wrong :?

I guess that's one more reason it sucks to be in California. It has no effect on anyone else, get over it.

What happens here tends to gain momentum in other states. Sad but true fact.

Anyone else think I'm overreacting when I say we might be seeing the last days of airsoft as a real hobby? I've got this eerie feeling that in five or so years, it's just going to be one of those obscure fads that came and went.

Maybe I'm just pessimistic. Meh.
