The Army in MARPAT?

Discuss anything and everything here that's Airsoft related.

Anything is better than ACU... However I will say it would be strange running around in Marpat, idk why exactly but it just wouldn't sit completely right with me. I can see why the Marines want to be all special and such, but then again I want camo that actually works.

That would save them some money as they could buy up all the "Marpat-esque" UTG tac gear on the market :D

This is retarded. I thought Def. Sec. Gates was going to financially slap the marines back into their intended place?

So what cut our operating costs from the lowest service to lower? As it stands we had to cut nearly every development program we had. Sorry, the Army can go shazaam themselves. If they want to wear MARPAT, they can head to MCRD.

You know Canada could have said the same thing to the marine corp way back befor MARPAT, But we were nice and gave you our research for FREE so that your troops would be safer. So I say let the army use MARPAT, But just call it ARDPAT

Now, if somebody wants something to complain about, ACUs last 6 months tops in country. BDUs used to last freaking forever.

Who out there believes that with the advances in technology over the last god-knows how many years, textile engineering hasn't advanced far enough to make a uniform last an entire deployment? Really?

This. My ACUs have lasted a year and thats not downrange. They fray, the velcro wears out, fade like a mother f*cker the list goes on and on.

Currently so everyone is on the same page here. The US Army is looking to buy 3 different sets of uniforms for Arid, Temperate and Transitional(Urban) environments. Its not just replacing ONE uniform, its wanting to adapt multiple uniforms into the fighting force. MARPAT is extremely effective in temperate climates and is the top performer for that area. The Army wants to adopt it because of that reason. However the marines dont like to share so it probably wont happen....soon

Being that I grew up around Marines, I'm against the Army doing anything that adversely affects the Marine Corps' future. I would much rather they develop their own unique patterns because I like that each branch has their own (they deserve the distinctions), however In this case though I can't say i'd be too upset, I'm sure i'm not the only one out there tired of losing friends.

How would the Army using MARPAT adversely affect the Marine Corps?

Wait...what?

The Marines are great and all, but they fly under the US flag. You know, same team. This is the exact reason why military funding needs to be significantly cut. The branches seem to think they can do immature, unprofessional bs like this. Marines get a globe and anchor, they get a US marines tape, their own ribbons and awards and you would think their higher ups would act like marines instead of like a teenage phony pony griping about shanequa wearing the same dress to homecoming.

It is an absolute waste of money, money that our country doesn't have, to give every branch several different uniforms, many of which are absolutely worthless. I mean hell, the navy has blue cammies? wtf? Each branch should have the same uniforms other than dress. Each branch already has specific tapes for their uniforms.
