Just noticed that they're not only wearing Crye helmet covers, also what look like custom covers.

A) I lost mine because the pocket and pad got soaked and pliable. :P

B) The MSAP plate pouch is for user comfort over the integrated pocket. Sometimes the plate can dig into your side if your rig is adjusted like that (I have heard), and the plate pouch removes that annoyance.

Wouldn't having it in a pouch like that reduce the usefulness of the plate since it leaves large areas open to the side of the plate?

Its actually better a bit, because if you put the plate in the integrated pocket, you can see on his that the plate would be farther forward. That could be remedied if the plate were in the pocket, but comfort is still an issue, and fitting too. With the MSAP pouch, you can move it back to make it protect a bit more.

Having it in a pocket isn't going to change the coverage, its still sitting where it would if it was in the internal pouch.

Also, having used side plates for just a few games, I think that's a bleeding great idea not having them on the inside. They dig in on your hip bones and its a pain!

Its actually to place the plate on top of the soft armor, not under.

A bit of a bump but I must say, this is one of the most comprehensive ranger threads I have ever seen. About twice as much as mp.net and other military photos forums. Great job guys, this is one of the best I have found on the web.
