Best way to clean tactical gear.

So, apparently, at some point, a cat pissed on some of my gear. Specifically, a condor dump pouch that I left outside to weather. Hilariously, it looks brand new, except for reeking of cat's piss. Any idea on how to solve this particular problem? Can I just hock it in the washer with some vinegar?

Gotta love those cats....I have lost 2 pairs of shoes to cat piss and got plenty of claw scratches on my freshly waxed car hoods (2 different cars) from them.

Do not do anything until you treat it with Nature's Miracle odor remover first. You can find it at pet stores and online. They claim that other cleaners can set the odor so that the enzymes in Nature's Miracle may not work, if it has been treated with other cleaners.

It works great on all kinds of odors / stains.

Fire...burn the pouch and the cat 8)

As mentioned above, there are pet urine cleaners for carpets that should be okay to use on your gear as well.

If that fails, go back and try the fire method...

They made a Nature's Miracle specifically for cats. It's even orange scented with oxy-clean. I used it on a cymbal bag after I had dry cleaned it, which didn't touch the piss smell at all. It's the only thing that works.

There is nothing else, short of fire.

It was Urine-Off, actually. Probably the same stuff, but in case it's not, that's what I used. Took a few cycles of washing and soaking in Urine-Off and rewashing, and mud to get the smell out. It's not going to be something that you are going to spray on and be done with.

Soak in NM, let it dry. Works 1st time. If there's still smell, you missed a spot. Other stuff works, but not as well. And costs just as much.

O/T for sure but I'm setting here laughing so hard my sides are aching, the visual of a cat pissing all over a PC are too funny.

Granted there are no New Seasons in your area Sleepy, but they do carry it there.

Also, shoot the cat and buy a dog. Their wee isn't as stanky.

Not my cat, have a dog. Her name is Lola, and she's racist. Nary a mexican can walk down the street without her barking at them. Its worse when they're on bicycles, which seems to be everywhere here.

Anyways, I know that I've used a vinegar solution to eliminate cat urine in clothing and such, but what are the odds I can just toss this dump pouch into the wash with some vinegar and it'll work? I ask because I know this 1000D is supposed to be weather-resistant.

Dude, WTF is it with the Mexican hating dogs? My dog does the same thing! I can have him in my car and if there's a pedestrian he doesn't care at all, unless it's a Mexican! Then he starts barking and getting all snarly and I'm like, "WTF dog!"

Sorry to hijack. Back on topic. Cat piss, yuk. :bleh:

Just to save people money, I'm going to run this pouch in the wash tonight with some vinegar, do another rinse cycle, and see what happens. Let you folks know how it goes. In the meantime, feel free to hijack the shit out of this thread.
