Anyone else use REAL helmets?

Postby Bigfoot571 » Fri May 27, 2011 1:58 pm

Always wanted to know if I was the only one who actually used a real Military Grade Helmet. I pretty sure mine is a OD PASGT helmet. So does anyone else use real military helmets?

Yes. Lots of people do.

People tend to use them in larger, or theme based games, as they can feel like they weigh alot on top of your head if you wear them for a long while.

I wear a real TC2000 uniformly, be it at TacTac, in the field, etc. Gotta keep with the impression. I sort of prefer it over a replica because it's a better fit, and I think it has a better balance of weight than a replica, thus making it more comfortable. Fits Sordins better, too.

That, and I got it for $50, lol. :D

The weight was my main concern when I first fielded the helmet, but I got used to it and cant even tell its there after a few minutes, its not that heavy of a helmet.

Snowman, that's because you are a gear whore. And every one knows it. ;)

Go OpsCore. Issued and OregonAero straps suck. :P

I hate wearing my PASGT because of the suspension system and headband. A big part of making a bucket wearable is in the pads and straps, and IMO a PASGT is unwearable after extended periods of time because it just gets painful. :/

Haha, yea, thats my only gripe with the PASGt, im looking in to getting eaither a MICH or a new padding system i my PASGT, cuz the straps are a little annoying, but not too bad if you ajust them right.

I wear a real PASGT, but I only use it for competitions and indoor play because of the weight and... chunkiness of it. I removed the headband, kept the rest of the suspension straps, and now only wear it with a beanie or balaclava as padding.

I wear a real TC2000 or 2001 depending on what comms I'm wearing, but I don't wear them on overnight or multi-day ops unless they are CQB scenarios.

In the field for 8+ hours its just too bulky and hot, so since I'm not actually worried about shrapnel, I prefer a ballcap or a beanie.

I sport an MSA Gallet TC2000 whenever I'm at a game. I'm not one for hats, and I like hitting trees with my head.

As for price I got mine for 120 or something.
