Pressure Switch Mounting

Postby Canis » Fri May 06, 2011 10:02 pm

So i have a question,

Where does one (who isn't a noob) mount a pressure switch on their m4?

I just got a tac light and have been playing with the pressure switch for an hour. The cord is kinda long and wants to get in the way of changing my mags.

Any advice on where these switches are usually mounted?

Route it to a vertical grip for CQB use (such as the Tango Down vertical grip/battle grip with tape switch slot) or route it to a horizontal rail panel (for both CQB or open-field/woodland environments..etc) that has a tape switch recess such as the Tango Down tape switch panels for Insight Technology tapes or Surefire tapes.

You think yours is hard to route...you oughta see what I have to deal with. I have a rare set of Surefire double switch tapes...one that is an on/off button and another lead that comes out as a tape switch...lol!

Just put it where your thumb is on your non firing hand, typically. Makes it easy to press.

Sounds good thank you.

I dont have any side rails, just a top and bottom sort of set up, but the kit came with Velcro. haha. Do the switches hold up okay in bad weather or are these pressure switches notorious for shorting?

I realize that it depends on the quality of the switch, but im wondering if this is something they are susceptible to.

I run a green lamser and a light on my airsoft M-4. The laser tape switch is routed down onto the pistol grip so I can squeeze it with my firing hand when shooting. I wrap the mag well with my non-firing hand. The tape switch for the light is mounted to the side of the lower reciever so I can hit the light with my non-firing hand. I have mine held on with velcro, and it works okay. Cord management sucks, but that is what electrical tape is for.
