Tactical Gear getting to expensive

Postby Ranger Commie » Tue Apr 19, 2011 7:17 pm

I'm trying to get tactical gear for airsoft games because I'm a noob who's tired of being shot in the face at point blank range with a high powered sniper rifle. The problem is that my list got to expensive. not totally out of my range but I would prefer not to pay over 160. If any one knows good alternativeness to these supplies let me know.

Decent goggles for when the visor pisses me off
Also has to be woodland for my team

Just out of curiosity why are you double posting this question? If you can't take a hit to the body you probably should stay home. For less than $30 you can get a face mask that will keep your delicate beauty intact.

No one here will shoot you point blank in the face with a sniper rifle. For tactical gear, start out with a cheap molle vest with a few pouches, add and rearrange more pouches to your ideal setup. For eye wear just go to a hardware store and get some cheap/safe glasses. I wouldn't spend all that money getting a ton of really cheap and crappy things but rather get really good necessary things

Also, while you're at it, you might look into the difference between "to" and "too."

Yeah I over exaggerated with the sniper rifle but I do have a fat lip and multiple blood welts on my face from my last game by people using overpowered guns.

A little o/t but was there a chrono on site? I've been shot in the face with guns well under the 400 FPS chrono and they still rocked my face. Just saying everyone had hot guns is easy to do but there are many factors that come into play when being hit. I've played with quite a few people from your area and never had a problem.

try craigslist. For starting out i don't think you really need to go too fancy. I bought two utg vests that hold 12 mags, 3 pistol mags, has molle for my hydro pack, and a belt for my pistol, both cost me $40 on craigslist. I also bought a sniper, we pistol, another vest like the one i have, pants, gas, 3 mids, 1 high, and a ton of parts for $100, then sold the sniper for $120 and the vest and mids for $30. Craigslist is a great way to start out.

I run woodland, od green vest, and go as cheap as i can. My gun shoots you just as good as a guy in marpat looking all sexy while they are out there :)

Someday someone may kill you with your own gun, but they should have to beat you to death with it because it is empty

try cutting your list down to things you actually need. no one carrys a pack into the field. ditch the visor and helmet (opt for a good pair of wraparound glasses). get a vest that will hold some mags and a couple canteens and thats all youll need for quite sometime. the rest of it is mostly look cool stuff. its not like we go to the field fro a week and need to carry everything we need on our backs. there area dead pools where you can stash you stuff. just something to think about.

Buy the minimum, but pay enough to get stuff that lasts. Haunt the classifieds here, craigslist, and ebay.

If you are running an M-series plamtform (M-4, M-16, , anything running STANAG mags), you can start with ALICE gear. Dirt cheap, and it'll work fairly well.

Good gear costs more. Generally, it lets you do things just a little faster, or a little better, or it weighs a little less. When you get to the point where a quarter second on your reload time is a big dealm, then buy gucci. Until then, surplus is cheap and works pretty well.

this might sound dumb to some people, but do you honestly go to airsoft scrims thinking that you wont get shot and get welts or fat lips?

I've gotten shot in the face in full auto from a 400FPS gun at point blank. Just man up and take it like everyone else here does, or get a face mask if you're seriously that concerned. This is really only an issue if you do CQB, as virtually all outdoor engagements are far from point blank.

Also, IIRC, it's "too" expensive, not "to" expensive. And it's also "skirm", not "skrim".

It also sounds like you need to figure out how to air soft in general first. If the other guy is close enough to shoot you point blank, why haven't you shot him?

But this is beside the point. Just get yourself a simple chest rig. I have one from Condor that I got for $25 and it works wonderfully. That being said, I have out grown the system gear wise and am looking at getting a plate carrier but it is not a necessity to have the big bad gear set up to have fun and kick some a$$.

Go play at well organized events.
Eye and teeth protector are a must. You can never grow those parts back.
Lastly, buying your "tacticool" gear may have a snowball effect.
