Eagle Plate carrier Plates

Postby JoKeR1147 » Mon Apr 18, 2011 4:34 pm

Hey guys, I just got my EPC in S/M and got some medium sized 8x10 strike plates. However in the back of the vest, the plate sticks out a bit from the vest, and while the flap can stick to the velcro it leaves a good inch and a half of velcro untouched because it cant reach it. Im wondering if the plates are too big, but the front plate which is the same size as the back plate fits perfect. Is the EPC just designed so that the back plate hangs out past the slot a bit? So far I have the plates weighing at about 7-8 LB each and the straps held fine, is this normal or something I should be concerned about?

Yea they are the same 8x10. The look and are essentially the same thing, strike plates are just a slightly different material thats less protective.

The plates are fine, just regular plates, they are the right measurement. On your vest, and I assume you have plates, does the back plate hang out just a wee bit out of the vest so that the flap to keep the plate in place has to stretch/extend itself a bit? Does the back flap fully cover the velcro on the backside of the vest or does it leave a good 1 1/2 - 2 inches uncovered?

Doesn't the EPC need 2 front plates (top corners cut)? That could be your problem.

I dont see how that would affect the plate housed in the back of the vest though....... My issue is that the rear part of the vest has the plate slightly extended out of the vest.

If the rear plate pouch is cut for a front plate, and you put a rear plate (no cut corners) in it, it could make it stick out.

Oh no, both my plates have cut corners so they are wider on the bottom than on top.

Mine do that, barely. They aren't really exposed, but aren't in properly. It's because I'm running medium SAPI's in a size small SPC though.

They are medium plates, but they are 8x10 which is what eagle recommends.... It sits out just a wee bit and looks kinda funky but as long as it isnt bad for the vest. Im just worried that the weight of the plates may cause the flap to fail and give out, letting my plates crash to the ground midgame. But sense other peoples vest do it to i guess its not really that big a cause for concern.
