belt help

Postby CCCman » Tue Apr 05, 2011 9:04 pm

i've noticed there are 3 kinds of belts i see people mainly wear: riggers belts, molle belts, and duty belts. I plan on running a ciras and attaching a lot of things to my belt, so there will be a lot of weight on my belt, which of those three belts will be the best for my situation?

The direct answer to your question is a MOLLE battle belt, or a duty/pistol belt.

Riggers belts are designed to be used with rappelling gear IIRC. They are very solid uniform belts. I believe some molle belts also have them inside as support.

Duty Belts and Alice belts are rigid belts, suitable for holding pistols and other heavy gear up. They are what police use, and ALICE belts are often used by the military. They work, but are less comfortable than MOLLE belts.

MOLLE belts are often padded and comfy, and have MOLLE loops for MOLLE pouches.

What do you plan on sticking on your belt that you couldn't put on your CIRAS? Using a fully loaded MOLLE belt with a big plate carrier hinders your mobility since you have less freedom of movement.

That being said, if you do stick a bunch of stuff on it, suspenders wouldn't be a bad idea. HSGI makes some amazing ones, though a bit spendy.

Eagle makes some suspenders as well. Vegas_vixsin on Ebay sells them for $20ish shipped.

She does get several different items over time, so this isn't her standard stock. Usually she has RG, MJK, and Multicam Eagle belts in addition to the black ones, and she usually gets other-colored suspenders as well. Her Auction prices usually sell for $20 shipped.

fuckyeah, I've been looking for an RG PMB/suspenders. My only issue is that I'm right in between the medium and the small (like 31 waist), so which one should I get? OPT has a medium in RG, so if medium would work, I might get that. If not, I'll get a small from that Vegas chick.

For carrying stuff in leg rigs, I'd go with a stiff duty type belt that is 1.75"-2" in width to give good support. Look at the belt I mentioned.

Juicemachine, your 15 years old. Trust me, your only going to get bigger. Maybe even fatter, who knows, but my point is get the medium because it will be able to grow with you. By the time your 18, you could be burlier than you are now.

HSGI's suspenders should be able to adjust with your size juice.

Mmkay. One more question about Eagle belts, does the amount of MOLLE vary from Small to Medium? I count 16 columns on most of the pictures I see, what size is that representing?

I think it's only once you get up to L/XL, but I'm not 100% on that.
