NN2H CA SOPMOD m4

Postby NoNeed2Hate » Tue Mar 29, 2011 10:32 am

I recently picked up a Sportline CA m15a4 for only $60. It has seen some use, and could definitely use some upgrades. I also had a Regular CA m15a4 (full metal) lying around as well. Given the light of the situation I have decided that I will make these into a project gun for myself.

What I added internally:
-full cylinder
-reinforced gear set
-better shimming
-dean's connector
-mosfet (never needed/used one before, so this is a big maybe)
-New hopup unit with bucking (maybe systema hopup) (put off for lateR)
-TBB 6.03mm most likely.

What I added externally:
-RIS
-Cranestock
-Magpul pistol grip or 416 style pistol grip (put off for later)
-Snake skin paint job.

I am going for a SOF m4 look.

As this project continues I will post updated photos, please tell me what you guys think, and tell me if there is anything that i should add internally or externally. I'm really excited for this

I have to reshim the gearbox unfortunately because i reshimmed it very poorly so everything is grinding inside, luckily i found a neat guide with which to use.
also the gun wasn't not firing at all due to the fact there was no fuse nor fuse box for the tamiya connection (strange eh?) i fixed that problem when adding the deans connector.

what do you guys think? anything i should add?

I plan to get a 553 replica soon. Any recommendations for a 553?

Oh My Goodness; this rifle is perfect!

I'd like to see an Aimpoint with a cantered mount, paintjob to match.

Maybe a nice QD Supressor, they make everything mo' better.

Some really good suggestions here! really appreciate it. trying to decide between an aimpoint or eotech..... hummmm choices choices.

QD silencer is definitely a high possibiliy since i am trying to get a SEAL/SOF kit going. and most of the ref pics have the mk18's with silencers attached....

Aimpoint is more period, as it was actually fielded with the SOPMOD kits.

However, the Aimpoint has a 4 MOA dot, while Eotechs have 2 MOA dots. That means that an Aimpoint red dot covers 4" of your target at 100 yards, while an Eotech covers 2" at the same distance. This reallym only becomes an issue out past 200 yards or so, though.

Also, the Eotech handles parallax much better at close ranges.
