Suggestions for flashlight

Postby Chairmanlao » Sun Mar 27, 2011 1:19 am

Sup yall, looking to get my hands on a little flashlight.
Any suggestions?

My "CQB" loadout is just a simple p229 with a few mags and a flashlight.

I found this

45 bucks.
Any good?

Again, suggestions welcome.
*keep it under 50 please. :p*

Thanks!

Your link is broken.
Well if your price limit is $50 you wont get that good of a flashlight IMO. If you really really want a good one I's suggest saving up and getting a Surefire. It's going to set you back some serious money, but it will be the best flashlight you will ever own.

Go to Costco and get a Maglite D-Cell light.

Ah the link was broken because it was an AirsoftGi Shocker that only lasted for 12 hr.
*fixed.

Nasty, good find (never thought of it)
Wasn't really looking for one to mount on my gun - Kinda looking for a flashlight (to hold)

And 50 bucks is my limit as I've spent my max this setup.
But I want to get one anyways because I could use it for everyday life too.

-Blind more than anything.

Costco eh? Will look into it.

Thanks for the suggestions so far, keep em up. :D

I use some 1" scope rings and a flashlight with a sensitive button that I can activate w/ my ring finger. Looks semi-tacticool and it only cost me about $5 for the ring and I happened to have the light lying around.

Nasty, you can throw the D-cell one under your arm keeping it on target while you reload.

In real life, it doubles as a club for when your handgun doesn't work.

I would say for a good cheap handle held flashlight, go with a surefire G2, or a fake one for even less.

I have one of those. It's not weapon mounted; but it's a good light. All parts are interchangeable with surefire.

Scope Ring+1" Costco Flashlight=$15 max.

Scope Ring+1" Costco Flashlight also=the cheap solution to this problem.

If you're not convinced, I'll post pix of my "pistol lights". You don't need a Surefire unless you plan on taking it overseas, or underseas for that matter.

The next time we cross paths at training I will let you try some of my various lights. I have an older Insight tech m-3 gun light, streamlight tlr 1 LED gun lights, a G2 nitrolon Surefire, a high speed ,super deluxe $$$$$ ( cannot remember the model #) Surefire, and several old stingers which worked just fine for a long time. If I would give you a best bet for your budget / want I would recommend the G2 nitrolon (except get the new LED one ). I have used every flash light in the known universe looking for the holy grail of lights. Working night shift for 12 hrs, we used them a lot. Every light including Surefire has their issues, depends on what you like. I would not recommend the "clubbing " with the d cell flashlight, I have seen it done and whacked a few myself with a rechargeable streamlight ( car mounted) the paperwork / lawsuits are not what you want / need. Striking someone with a light comes pretty high on the force continuum. I can show you a pretty good flash light technique ( Thunder Ranch / non gun mounted) that works just great with a pistol. Not so good with a long gun though. One other issue comes to mind, particularly with your budget. Most people with a gun mounted light wind up needing/ wanting a holster to accommodate it $$$$$$$:(

DJ, I'm in no way advocating the use of a flashlight as a club. It's just the light I had for my security job.

OP: Look into Fenix flashlights. Rediculously bright, compact, and pretty decenlty priced.

She said I raped her? Well, where there is a Will there is a way. But just remember, if it wasn't Lil, it wasn't Wil.

:D......nobody really does, but when your uo to your proverbial a$$ in alligators , stuff happens, thats why Streamlight made the plastic Sl20x, it sucks......Many agencies will not allow the use of anything else now to reduce their liability

An alarming trend I have noticed with the weapons mounted lights, is the increased amount of people who are having guns pointed at them in order to use the gun light for illumination. Watch, some attorneys are going to jump on this trend as soon as they figure it out......

Re the nitrolon light , for a general purpose light I have found it hard to beat, and it works well for cqb too, down side is the $$$$ for the cr123 batteries if you use it alot.

I have one of these for my Glock. I <3 it.

It also comes on/off pretty fast, due to the attachment method, so you could have it on a belt mount, and your pistol in a normal holster.
