multicam

Postby Toan » Sat Mar 05, 2011 12:11 am

Im in the market for a set of multicam, but i see that tru-spec and propper both make it, but my real question is which company makes it with the best fabric and realism. Are both brands equal or is one better quality than the other?

If theres another brand that Im missing here please feel free to throw in the name. Looking to spend $150 but I am flexible with the price.

Six in one, a half dozen in the other. Some people prefer Propper. While others prefer Tru-Spec.

Personally, I like Propper

That seems a little pricey. AONW is quite a bit cheaper. Linky

Is that pretty much the same stuff I put in my post? The descriptions are exactly the same.

I'd buy from AONW or bdu.com over uspatroittactical mainly due to the massive price difference, and the fact that both haven't done me wrong ;)

Well, I know guys that have taken their Proppers overseas (not the multicam). So...I'm thinking their "realism" might be pretty high.

Really? I mean is this a serious question? Sure--which one has better seams and so forth, but "realism"?

Camo is camo. If it helps break up your signature then it's realistic. I use propper but be sure to wash and dry it cold or you become faded. You look like a fool with faded pants and a good shirt...trust me, i know

The guy in the faded woodlands--he's the guy you've really got to watch out for. He's been around the block.

Camo is not all created equal as some may tell you. Make sure you get Official Multicam. Both Propper and Truspec have the official Crye pattern.

Some of the knockoff Multisham stuff is pretty bad. With off colors and poor color fades that look like they were printed with a dot matrix printer.
Crye put solid research into the stuff and it works exceptionally well in a lot of terrians. The knockoff stuff just will not have the same performance as the Crye stuff.

I prefer Truspec over Propper. The cut (fit) on the Propper stuff is not the same as their ACU stuff, and does not meet the same specs. The jacket is really long, way to long IMO. Also Propper only offers Ripstop fabric which is strong but will fade much more quickly than the twill type fabric offered by Truspec.
Truspec also offers ripstop in a true ACU cut, but I actually like the BDU style set which comes in a thick twill fabric. They have solid stitching and the color of the camo pattern seems to be more rich and defined than on the Ripstop fabric.

The Crye Combat set comes in a twill fabric. Again, durability. Ripstop tends to form a white grid pattern on top of the camo rather quickly with wear. This can reduce the effectiveness of the pattern, Especially at close range.

Great overview Skyhawk. There are plenty of people offering MultiCam now. Tru-spec have good but different products. You also have Crye, Wild Things, and Arc'teryx with high end options. For the most part, you get what you pay for as long as you find it at the lowest cost possible.

Typically dealers are going to offer it at a lower cost than if you go right to the source.
