A-TACS

Discussion of load-bearing equipment, tactical gear, holsters, BDUs, and other gear related to Airsoft.

I'm willing to bet we're not going to see that in common usage. You know why?

Because, and no hate intended, it looks like after he got done rolling in the mud, he cleaned the shitters. It looks effective as hell, but the REMF brass will hate that their mens' uniforms always look dirty.

Also, this:
Utilizing our patented process, we created a palette of natural colors digitally sampled from real-world elements in carefully controlled lighting.

In the real world, there's no such thing as "carefully controlled lighting". You go from bright sunlight to dappled shade to dark building interiors and back again in seconds.

It looks absolutely fantastic in the composed shots they've got, against backdrops of similar color palettes. But the second he hits the woods, or a modern urban environment, he's toast.

I think by controlled lighting they meant that they controlled for various light sources and such, not that they only tried in in lighting conditions that were ideal for it.

Jungle camo it is not, but for desert, dry brush, and mountainous terrain like where we are fighting now it appears to be fairly effective.

I'm going to reserve final judgment till I see some shots of it not done up specifically to show off how cool it looks, but it does seem to be fairly effective for the terrain it would would most likely be used in.

The overall base color for the cast is a neutral tan which is designed for use in open, rocky or arid environments.

A-TACS® is designed as a universal pattern for a wide range of operational environments with additional supporting color and design variants to follow.

Universal camo patterns always have flaws. They are good over a wide array of terrains, but are not the best for any individual type of terrain. They are going to be making more specific versions of the basic pattern to suit more specific needs.

It looks universal for arid environments.....It would appear from the basic color pallette in the shot that MC is more universal than this.

That being said...bring that shit on. The pattern actually looks like it'll work really well in urban environments...it makes you look like...nothing.

I was just looking at it, and I noticed that it was right, while MARPAT (and UCP in some environments)may be a nice pattern, the advertisment was right, it's to square and it would be easier for the eye to pick up.

Now this stuff looks like it actually works in the real world thought I don't want to think about how much it costs.

Ehh...I kind of want them, but buying camo patterns has started to become like buying Apple devices.

We will start seeing A-Tacs pattern soon enough on gears such as pouches, headwear and chest rigs.

I think this would make an excellent base for a ghillie suit or other 3-D concealment getups.

Funny, that. My 6th gen. iPod 80 GB has never had any problems and still has upwards of 12 hours of battery life. This is after about 5 years of use and being dropped on what is turning into a weekly basis.

As far as what color gear to wear with ATACS, I would imagine ATACS gear would be preferred. This site offers lots of gear in ATACS: http://www.tacticalassaultgearstore.com/platecarrier.aspx

I'm sure there was a thread about this a few months ago.

I think ATACS looks like teh secks in a desert, shrub plain, or scrub-bush environment. Would like to see the blending with other colors tested in other environments tho.

I think it looks better than MARPAT but thats just me

Gear was already made to coincide with the rollout of the A-TACS pattern.
