Gear necessities?

Discussion of load-bearing equipment, tactical gear, holsters, BDUs, and other gear related to Airsoft.

Postby Blitzkreig » Thu Feb 24, 2011 12:26 pm

I have a KWA, and they're awesome, but a bit difficult to find mags for. My MAG brand mids don't feed through them, and I know that Matrix mids are too wide. I think that CA mids feed (in fact I'm counting on it) but I don't know personally. I too would advise spending a butt ton on a gun (maybe even buy a backup here. It's the most important thing. I recommend ESS goggles and a Pantac RRV. I would go for the TF141 loadout. I have yet to see someone at a game with a good one. But don't be Ghost.

Well, use your brain and look at the top of the place where you posted this thread (TACTICAL GEAR STICKIES).

Really, it's at the top of the bloody page....

If you're gonna stick around AP, I'd suggest learning to use a forum better. ;)

A quick tip, if your really 13 years old, I wouldn't suggest investing so much in stuff that may not fit you a couple years down the line. I mean guys change a lot from 13 and then on especially in size. Hell you could be a total fatass and maybe lose 40 lbs the next day or you could be a scrawny kid and gain 50 lbs in the next year. If you really love airsoft and really want to invest that much money in your gear then you can I guess, its just I bet you your boots won't fit you a couple years later.

Just spend most of your money on your gun, ammo, batteries, charger, eyepro and magazine first and then you can play dress up with the cash leftover. If you really want to be cool get a lipo ready gun setup because batteries are always a problem on the field.

I do have ONE question that may be kinda stupid, but im gonna ask it anyway: Is it more popular to wear bdu's or acu's? I dont wanna be that one fag whos in acu's (or the other way around) im just currious as to which one would be "normal" I've browsed through pictures on here and from what I can tell its pretty 50/50, but I just wanna make sure.

Also, Im not too worryed about outgrowing my stuff. I AM 13, but im also 5'11" The tallest guy in my family is 6'2". so I should be a large the rest of my life. I dont plan on spending 800-1200 on just gear, I said that my AEG, batterys, mags ect. are included in my budget.

ACU's/UCP is not an effective camouflage for the Pac Northwest. You're better off choosing a different camouflage pattern.

BDUs, Multicam, MARPAT, everything > ACUs

ACUs suck. Except maybe in snow, which we don't get THAT often around these parts (now is an exception).

I wear ACU's because I like them. I am not too intent on camouflage, rather target identification so I don't get shot by my team members. I don't like Multicam. I would get AOR1 (desert marpat) but it's not really necessary for me right now. If you're doing a TF141 impression, use Multicam, woodland, or 3 color desert.

Don't get ACU's. Period. Maybe for the snow like Snowman said, but other than that ACU = Fail. You literally glow in the woods, especially at night, and after some wear, they pretty much turn grayish/white.

I highly recommend Marpats. They're much more universal than most patterns (not as dark as woodlands, not as light as Multicam). Granted, there is no good "universal" pattern, but from what I've seen, Woodland Marpats tend to fit the description better than most.

BDU-cut uniforms are the older uniform pattern template, which makes them easy (and cheap) to find. Nice if you want to do a more period look.

ACU-cut uniforms are definitely more modern looking and are available in a myriad of camo patterns (MultiCam, MARPAT, UCP). Having the shoulder pockets are nice if you use a chest rig/plate carrier as you're not losing storage space compared to the older BDU's. There's also the Velcro, which allows you to put the right type of patches to identify how lame you are. :p

Me, I'm going to RAID a set of OD BDU's. Oldschool stylin' updated to haute couture fashion trends!
