What king of GBB should I get

Discussion of GBB (gas blowback) replicas.

As a warning, both my HFC M9's and now my sexy KWA have fallen to the crappy design of an M9 trigger spring. They come undone and it is quite a hassle to fix. M9's are beautiful, but having a double-stack 1911 is much more practical. But my PTP is still motivated beyond belief.

I currently have (3, 1 of which is not running) HFC m9s, (1) KSC 2011 4.3 night hawk and (1) WE KAC KnightHawk 1911.

Of those the KSC is the most reliable and best shooter. The hopup helps with that for sure. The WE (the 3rd I have owned is an ok gun, shoots well but IMHO is just ok. The hfcs are decent for the money but as mentioned the trigger springs are a PITA. I have replaced them on every m9 I have owned with the exception of one. They are cheap but can get the job done if you keep up on the maintenance. BTW I have had 6 of them.

I have handled the TM 5.1 and am looking for 2 of them to mod. I have read good and bad but at the end of the day it will do for what I need. The WA guns are very nice but it is my understanding that the upgrades and spare parts can be harder to find then TM. If money was not the issue I would own a few of them as well as a couple airsoft surgeon guns.

After years of shooting IPSC, USPSA, speed steel and Practical rifle I have learned that a shooter is only as proficient as his weapon is reliable. The same applies to airsoft.

I haven't had a single issue with my 3 year old KJW M9. Kinda luck of the draw, just like any other gun.

Western Arms are the highest performing pistols available out of the box, but they are pricey. Mine was on massive sale when I bought it for 200 dollars plus shipping. I don't suggest them to most players because most players don't use pistols enough to justify that sort of price tag. Unless you plan on going pistolero a lot, stick to KSC and stock TM as your high quality brands and save the upgraded TMs and stock or upgraded WAs to people who like handguns too much. A KJW M9 will perform just fine as a sidearm, and while it won't shoot as well as my WA SV Infinity, it also probably won't see as much use nor will you have spent 500 dollars on the M9.

It's nothing super impressive, the only modification I've done to it is I replaced the outer barrel. They come stock with the best gas efficiency I've ever seen in a GBB pistol and a 6.02mm tightbore, so there's not a whole bunch of stuff that needs to be done. Except buy four spare magazines for a total of five  (Note for the uninformed: That's 200 dollars worth of magazines)

That's when it was brand spanking new, the magazines hadn't arrived yet and I hadn't even taken the orange tip off, let alone replace the barrel. Just a note, though, I cannot find the 6" Infinity metal slides anywhere, I've looked all over the place and asked on Arnie's but got nowhere. If you want to get a metal slide one, look for the slide now and choose which one to get based off of slide availability. 5" ones seem to be relatively common, but the other lengths can be difficult to impossible to find.
