KJW Glock

Postby G Runner » Thu Feb 10, 2011 6:23 pm

I'm looking at picking up a GBB Glock and one I am considering is the KJW. How well do the KJW's perform to the KWA/KSC Glocks. Is there any known flaws among the KJW's. Would it be better to pick up a KWA/KSC instead?

KWA is the way to go IMO. The KJW glock I saw broke for literally no reason and replacement internals are a phony pony to get a hold of.

If you are set on a Glock, go with KWA. I had an old HFC that broke, so I don't really like glocks. But a KWA shouldn't have any problems that cannot be fixed quickly.

Okay, Thanks. I'm also planning on ordering it from ehobby-asia and was going to get one with trades. Is it going to have any problems getting through customs?

Yes. Glock sued KWA for trademark violation, making it a hairy experience to get a trademarked KWA Glock into our fine country. That is, to the best of my knowledge, going to be extremely difficult.
People w/ more experience please weigh in; I am interested as well.

Realistically, it generally isn't a problem for a single order. Sometimes they do get caught, but usually a single guy's order doesn't get stopped. I had two Glocks make it through not too long ago, although from Uncompany, not Ehobby. The real issue is if you're a retailer, then they pay more attention to you.

So its not really something to worry about? What if they decide to stop it, What happens then?

Most overseas websites will put grip tape/putty over trades. Or just remove them. If Mr Customs man removes them, you could be out a new pistol ;)

Getting trademarked items imported is always a gamble, so keep that in mind. There is no 100% either way.

The newest ksc glocks do not feature real glock trades. While the actual gun is a trademark in itself, this customs has overlooked.

I was able to get 20 glocks through no problem 2 weeks ago, I would assume you can too. I didn't tape anything, ship anything seperate.

The biggest thing they look at is two things:

1. Does it have a orange tip?

Make sure you buy from a retailer that knows US Customs laws. I learned this a hard way last summer, though I did get my shipment back after some corrections.

2. Are you on their black list aka "flagged" in their system for repeated "incidents"?

Which I wouldn't worry about it because 99.9% of us in this community are not on it.

However at times they do look for trades but after talking to many customs agents in california last summer they told me the two things above are generally what they are after. And some know more about the gun industry than others and know the different manufacturer names and what not. So depending on who's looking, it might prompt an closer look.
