Infidel's INERT PROP

Postby Infidel » Thu Feb 10, 2011 12:26 am

THIS IS NOT REAL

It only represents an objective
Contains NO SUBSTANCES FLAMMABLE or EXPLOSIVE
IT IS MADE OUT OF MODELING CLAY

If this violates any board terms and/or conditions I apologize and please delete it immediately.

This is my INERT/PROP/NOGOBOOM/FAKE/SIMULATION

I will refrain from even using the B word:
Image
Anyone going to Ash Bash IV has a chance to get their hands on this little beauty and deploy it.

SIMULATED arming switch with blinking LED. Then just type in the time limit and wait. Sounds off with a very loud beeping. As you can see it is labeled on every side as to not confuse any law enforcement. Also great for Find the 'ocjective' and Search and 'destroy' game types.

Feedback/criticism please. Also any tips to make it more safe as to not confuse any law enforcement. I already transport it in a locking metal box with the same INERT/PROP label clearly on the front.

VERY nice work. Just keep it in that case, and you really shouldn't have to worry about it. Even if a LEO pulls you over, makes you open the case, etc, you will most likely also have all of your airsoft gear with you, which he will likely be more concerned about. Again, looks very nice.

It is common knowledge.

As long as there's no bomb and you explain to the cop in as calm, collected and simple words as possible then there should be no problem. If you particularly worried, perhaps you could make parts of it out of lexan or some other clear plastic so that anyone who is concerned could see the entirety of it and confirm, yes, there is no explosive here.

I always wondered what a cop would say if he stopped me with this two Fake Satchel Charges. Bags will with Foam and Wood for weight, and the $2 timer is velcro-ed on and just makes a loud beeping sound. Nothing to break if thrown. Would be interesting explaining what they are for to the police.

You guys need to remember, it's not the ones that beep that you have to worry about. Someone should make one that vibrates.

-I bought this as a Prop for our One Event. Heavy enough to be moved in a large case and assembled on a stand for 'launch'. Good Scenario Objective.

-My try at a Nuke Device. Red Flashing Lights and Ear Peircing Alarms on a timer (30, 60 or 120 minutes). One key to Power it and another to Arm it (Start the timer). Two good Scenario items to retrieve (Keys & Code). Worked out nice, but Nuke went off before the players could disarm it.
Image

-This a real bad idea I made up to use at an event. I ended up moth-balling it and only using it on my Home Field. I ended up painting "FAKE" in orange letters on the sides. Not quite sure I will use these.

Those pipe bombs are fine, Keeper, just make sure to transport them in a case that says "fake/prop" and don't get all uppity if a cop finds them.

Honestly, I've been pulled over with airsoft equipment in the car. As long as you use common sense and warn them BEFORE they find it, they're pretty chill about it.

And they are made of PVC pipe and trimmer line for 'wire'. Only thing is the timer is a Kitchen timer with a decent chime when it goes off. Still for looks. I always had them in a big bag with the other props. Never been pulled over once, but of course, the cop in my town lives next door to me. :D

We filled it full of gravel, weighed about 100lbs.

It was fun and it still sits next to my barn.

I will most likely remove the inert prop label when the simulaid is in play. It's cool to see all the different ideas the community has.

All of the "devices" are very creative and cool. Speaking as a former LEO, I can think of multiple statues that you could be in potential violation of with the transportation, and display of. Be very cautions in the use/ transportation of these devices. You will not like what will happen if you come across a particularly cautious or over zealous LEO. I would recommend transporting in the trunk , and in a secure container. The inert prop sign would do nothing to ease the concerns of a bomb tech of whom I know several. The device would most likely be blown up or shot with a water cannon. There are too many individuals who like to make weird looking real devices out of RC car parts etc....The people who work with the stuff ( EOD) take no chances.
Google "manufacture of imitation explosive device" to see what this can lead to if you are interested.
