PCU Level 5

Postby chilicon » Wed Feb 09, 2011 11:36 am

Is this the latest version of the PCU Kit? https://secure.beyondclothing.com/customize/official-pcu-cs-kit/

I want to pick out a specific item in the product selection part.. Is this restricted to just military personnel?

Even if I could, would anyone recommend getting an L5 jacket from them? Or should I just wait for a used one to pop up on eBay?

Thanks!

Are you looking for a soft shell? The Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force wear a Gortex parka with a removable hood with their working uniforms (cammies). A fleece liner is also available for warmth. Although the Air Force will just wear the fleece liner, which looks like shit.

Haha, you guys are funny.

But yeah, I was just looking for a soft shell (I think?).

I'm kinda trying to get one for like a USSF impression or something, but I need to price out my options. Thanks guys

Yes, that is the latest version of the PCU system (Generation 2), and yes Beyond Clothing makes PCUs for the military.

Also, the L5 would work for snow as long as you have something under it, like a regular blouse.

Is two for like $430 is good? 'Cuz then I could sell one for like $240 and basically get one for around $190. It's kind of a lot of money, but if it lasts a long time I think it would be worth it.

@ Snowman

So it's restricted to just the military then?

Well, it's the only price, unless you can find one used (not gonna happen). ;)

If you turn over the right rocks you can find them used. Easier to just buy through them.

I would try and avoid mixing regular BDU/ACU clothing with the PCU system if you are actually layering...the PCU system is designed to dry out in a ridiculously low amount of time, like 30 minutes, where ACU/BDU will take hours...there is a reason cotton is called death fabric.

Sweet, that's awesome, because I'll probably get some cash for my birthday, but I definitely won't have enough. I'll let you know by PM soon! :D
