I forgot to ask! For the chrono they usually use .2's, but I shoot with .25's. If my gun shoots over 400 fps with the .2's will I still be allowed to play?

All guns will be chronoed with .20g bb's, as these are what the standards are with. If you are shooting over 400fps with a .20g bb, expect to be told you can't use that gun. Using a higher weight bb does not change the impact energy.

While what Jester says about chronoing is correct, bb weight DOES change impact energy. That's why a .25 bb at 400 fps has too much energy and can cause injury, while a .20 at 400 fps is safe.

So, you chrono with .20 bb's and if you're over 400, the gun isn't safe and can't be used.

edit: I shouldn't try and type and work at the same time.

What jester was saying it that using a different weight BB will not change the energy, because as the mass increases the velocity decreases.

Yes, that's true. I didn't read Jester's post that way.

The main point still remains: Chronoing Saturday will be done with .20 BB's. Either bring an empty mag and/or have a STANAG mag rifle when you get to the chrono. If you chrono consistently over 400 (with an AEG), that gun won't be playing.

Since this topic has come up, I must ask.

I will be barrowing a gun, and I believe it shoots around the 403ish fps area. Maybe now it has gone down, but i'm wondering if just this little fps increase would be allowed or disallowed?

Thanks

Since you asked--we might tell you to not shoot at a guy that's close, but 3 fps...yeah, we'll probably allow that. Jester, correct me if I'm wrong.

You will be told at the chrono station whether or not you can use the gun you are chronoing. That will be the last word on it. If you have a gun that shoots over 400 fps with a .2g bb, you would be wise to bring a backup.
