Has been forever since someone last posted something on this thread.

Anyways, here are better pictures of my MSA MICH. Everything is real, no replica crap, except for maybe the industrial strength velcro I bought of Lowes. It was painted with Rustoleum Camo paints, has 5 strips of Velcro on it (2 on the back), the standard Army NVG Rhino Swing arm made by Norotos, the Army standard NVG one hole shroud thing, new screws, straps, pads, IR flag which probably isn't SOP (but I got two for $10, so why not?), MS-2000 Strobe, and bunny ears/goggle retention straps. The Rhino arm was previously owned and painted tan.

Image

And yes, I just realized my Strobe had become untied from my bunny ear, but I'm too lazy to retie it, take another picture, upload it on my computer, then on photobucket, then paste it into here.

Here is my pad setup for my Sordins. The helmet came with half of a set of old used pads, so I had a couple oval pads left over, which are the black ones. The headband fits perfectly into the little gap between the two oval pads. This is the setup I'll be using to hold me over until I get the OCC Dial Liner Kit of Ops-Core.

Wow, no posts in this thread since March...:? Y u no post pic of herrmet?

Anyway, this is my current WIP bucket. This particular helmet has been featured in this thread already (with different paint), but I decided that black doesn't work in Arizona.

Saw this pic of a NSW operator's MICH 2001...

....and I decided to try my own airbrushed version on an IBH.

Not done yet by any means; once I get all the rest of the paint on, I'll start putting on some velcro and straps. I am actually looking for a new suspension for this helmet (one of the Chicom straps broke) but I don't want to spend the $60 for a new Ops-Core or Oregon Aero set. If anybody could point me in the right direction, I'd be very thankful.

very nicely done paintjob. shading like that can be a real phony pony sometimes.

i found a USMC CVC helmet suspension on ebay for $18, but that was a while back. it didn't have the pads, but it was a four point suspension and it bolted right into my chinese helmet.

Beran, you mean like this? http://cgi.ebay.com/USMC-CVC-LWH-MICH-M ... 3197wt_952

Also, anyone have any idea what kind of the NVG arm fits in that front bracket on the IBH? I was looking at the Rhino arms on Ebay and I was hoping they'd work.

Lastly, best way to attach velcro? I've heard of everything from rubber adhesive to the self stick kind of velcro. I'd like to have all of the edges of the velcro actually in contact with the helmet; I just think it looks cleaner.

That's an ACH/MICH strap though I'm pretty sure it will still work. Not sure on the NOD mount but I'm pretty sure the rhino arm will work as well...

Small update:

Finally done with all the airbrushing; after painting the skull and all the shadows, I streaked some light tan paint vertically to give it a faded appearance. Straps, patches, and velcro are on order.

There are no arms that fit the mount on the IBH. It's not compatible with current hardware.

Yeah, it's an older Wilcox mount, so finding an arm would be next to impossible. :/
