TM MK23 what type of oil to use?

Postby gera229 » Fri Jan 21, 2011 11:06 pm

I got a good deal on the TM MK23 with an extended custom cut systema barrel.

I also bought the propane innovations propane adapter kit because I have heard good reviews about it.
The thing is that the silicone oil that it came with says "For GBB use only (Not for Al Tornado Grenade use)". The TM MK23 is not a GBB but rather a NBB pistol. Can/ should I still use the silicone oil that came with it that says for GBB use only? (Or what type should I buy/ use?).

Also since it is a NBB do I need to oil/ lubricate the gun anywhere specific other than the propane part? What type of oil/ lubricant do I use for that if so?

Another thing is that the TM MK23 has a leaky mag, but I am thinking it is because the O-ring is missing. Is there any way to fix this? (Yeah it is probably a bad thing that it has been stored by my seller with an empty mag due to the leak, but I hope that didn't damage/ worsen anything).

Anything else I need to know before I begin to use it? Like what type of size bbs? ( I am sticking with airsoft elite brand bbs because they are very good).

I am new to this.

Um, yes. Silicon oil is fine. Green gas is gonna work great.

Manually oil the gun, don't use green gas. Use propane. The silicone in green gas will get into the hop up and mess with the accuracy. For bb's, I use airsoft outlet .40's and .43's with great success in my Y&P Mk23. The heavier bb's mean more stable flight.

I think I will try 0.25g bbs. Yes I bought the propane adaptor kit to use propane, but do I need to apply the instructions? It says about 2 drops every 10 mag fills. However it says that is is a GBB silicone oil, I don't think that they have any other types, should I use it anyway?

Manually oil the gun? Is it really necessary for NBB?

Green gas is propane except with added silicone in it.

You need to oil the o-rings and valves every once in a while. If they dry out, they crack, than leak, than don't hold gas at all. I don't do it nearly as often as I should, but I haven't had issues.

So that means I will need to take the mag apart?

Another thing is, is the mag the only thing that needs to be oiled? Like so the gun internals/ hopup etc do not need to be oiled?

Also is it fine to use the silicone oil that came with my propane adapter kit? (Have asked several times no answer yet :? )

Yes. You can use the oil that came with the kit.
