I don't use mine much. Its one of those silly things your damn glad you have when your primary goes down and some one is advancing on your position. Out in the real world, I carried a backup .38 for 25 years. I never used it , but I'll tell you it was pretty cheap life insurance and I was glad it was there. A poor analogy for airsoft I guess...... depends on how serious you take your airsoft.....besides the pistols sre cool :D

For outdoor whatever pistol I was carrying has saved me a few times.

For indoor, I typically use a pistol more often than the M4 or 556, just easier to maneuver and switch hands, plus if you are playing with good people, it only takes a few shots to get them to call out.

+1
One of my favorite memories is going on a "suicide" mission with my pistol, and getting shot by some dude with a riot sheild! Who uses a riot sheild anyways?!

I use mine just for fun. That's why i started airsofting, i started for fun. plus the noise/kick/weight of an M9PTP (i own one myself) is just so attractive, i whip it out whenever i can

Its just kind of... Boring to me. If you've ever shot a real weapon then every GBB just seems like, blah. (Not to say anybody hasn't, don't start flaming.)

I guess my real question should have been: "Is it worth it to keep my sidearm, or sell it for some more gear, upgrades, etc. since I am just now getting legitimate gear?"

I cary a kwa g17 and 3 mags for it, when I had a LMG it was very usefull when going prone or in thick brush because of it's maneuverability. Now it's just for being tacticool and when I am within safety kill range of my enemys.

Shit happens, back ups are nice to have. And as mentioned before, they're damn cool. True, they don't kick like an angry horse but they are much more satisfying than the lifeless clacking of a sewing machine on crack (AEG's).
Although if you are short on gear maybe it's good to invest in that, however now that you have the M9 I say keep it, gradually get more gear.

Darn, any other thoughts?

So yeah youre 15. Your G36C is good but by saying transition what he meant was switching to a sidearm to assist in tight spaces indoors. So you dont have to use your primary indoors. You dont think your going to use real-cap? Then I bet youre just a hi-cap warrior. Real-cap helps to make the game more real ie more fun.

I shoot real steel pretty regularly, and I still love my TM P226.

To answer your question; Do whatever the hell you want. If you think pistols are impractical, or don't want yours anymore, sell it. Don't sit here and expect us to make decisions for you.

I think he just wants validation for the decission he's already made.

That's why I love threads like this. They either want you to make a decission for them or validate what they want to do. Makes mah bran hurt.

I carry a sidearm for a few reasons:

1) When using a bolt action, you can't shoot closer than 60'.
2) If I'm getting the drop on someone and am close to them, I'd rather shoot them with my pistol than a 400 fps M4.
3) Sometimes it's quicker to grab your pistol and shoot than reload your primary (depending on the situation and your loadout and your holster setup).
4) Because sometimes the Jew's need a good shot in the a$$ to calm down... (LIMPY I'M TALKING TO YOU!).

(I'll try stop this thread before it goes out of control...)

I'll save the M9 for now, and then see what gear I can get with my current money. When the spending spree is over, and if I don't have enough, expect to see the gun in the classified ads. (BTW I do like it, but its a bit hard right now to keep it knowing that it could be an extra $170 I could use for other things.)
