Discussion of GBB (gas blowback) replicas.

the kwa specwar is dead

Postby DRK » Thu Jan 13, 2011 10:34 pm

how is it the grand daddy of the USP had to take a knee? was it the lower mag capacity vs the kz75? was it the improper holsters most airsofters have? cause they don't have man hands? or the things that hang below the pelvis?

when i got to lay eyes and hands around the specwar it was the one gun i wanted above all else. the '75 was second place but now sadly it gets the gold medal because of some committee technicality like it was the olympics.

it was bad enough kwa released a plethora new guns in 2010 that would max out your credit card but it looks like they took a cue from H&K by HATING the civilian market. yes they pulled the one hand gun that every elite unit airsofter thinks they are from having. this ns 2 mecha is no longer gonna be in your arsenal. who do i have to thank for that? throw me a frickin bone here, really.

i think this sums up what the excuse is:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZIaSQ4kAZHM

but maybe that's just it. the fact you can't buy KWA USP's on Ehobby but they list all the Umarex ones. so probably, probably, umarex or H&K decided to cut KWA from making any more guns.

http://www.kwausa.com/forums/index.php? ... entry35611

so we'll see what happens. hopefully it does come out just under something else. but really KWA earned this gun. not some license holder.

umarex doesn't make guns. They allow the license use of their trades.

With umarex involved it means we see more replicas with trades just like we are seeing now.

So what's the issue?

Their trades are mainly huge warning labels...

This.

Yuck, they also like blazing on "6mm" in bright white paint.

I'd rather they didn't have trademarks and I could save 4 dollars on the overall price. :)

I agree with all that has been said. The Umarex company allowing airsoft manufacturers to use the H&K trades would be nice if it weren't for the large print on the other said of the replica that says read the manual and all of that crap. If it's just the trade mark great, but if it's more than that, I'll save the money...
Since having the trades (at least for me) only adds to the "realism" of airsoft and only makes your gun "look" bad-ass, then having a bunch of other lettering and crap on the other side defeated the purpose. So I'd opt for saving the money...
That being said however, I have been interested in getting the KWA version of the MK23, since the first reports of it came out last shot show, but as the date got pushed further and further back in the year, and then, they just sort of strated leaving it off when it might come out (last i hard was "maybe November" My assumption is that they are just dropping the gun from their line up, to make way for the 2011 replicas...
It would not surprise me if they had seen a drop off in their USP sales, since they saturated the market with them in various colors, and it's biggest competitor is the 1911, also available in all the colors of the military rainbow, they must have thought that making a larger version would not sell as well and let it slide into the corner. And finally off the map.

You said you laid you hands on one? Where?

The issue, I believe, is that Umarex is not licensing the best USP replica on the market (KWA).

This, in addition with H&K's legal pressures against unlicensed replicas will likely cause the US availability (or even possibly the production) to cease.
Well, you can start a new topic and get flamed for not searching, or you can search and get flamed for necro-posting. It's really your choice...

rentax. i laid hands on THEE one at shot show of last year. i believe i even posted it all here just over a year ago. the magazine is gargantuan. that is why i believe it would have enough power to stroke the slide back and allow for the bb to go far. i can understand every one's fixation for trade marks. its just one more thing paintball or video games don't have. but it doesn't affect gun performance. it is in the mind of the player. if anything one day in the future trade marks on the gun will be used against airsoft in legislation to have it banned. mark my words.

i guess we will have to wait 120 hours from now to see what will really released.

True that... I heard a rumor that the MK23 would shot 400 FPS out of the box. That may have been another reason for the large mag...

Yeah, this really is a HUGE dissapointment. Perhaps I would go after the Marui MK23, the functional silencer and overall efficiency from non-blowback is quite awesome in my mind.
But, we (at least I) go after gas pistols because they are cool and fun. Not so much functional. And full metal, immense blowback, punchy FPS and some realistic trades (without warning junk and 6mm) make one gorgeous package for the MK23 airsoft pistol. They promised me a toy that I will never be able to have.
As a side note, I held a real steel one and that was quite cool! I would just like to own one that KWA manufactured..

Is there any chance that legal disputes can be settled and our dreams could come true?

Oh noes, looks like the "KWA Specwar" is dead. Now it's going to be released by KWA as the "HK MK 23". Looks like MK 23 fans are in even better luck!

Yeah, we guessed as much when it was announced dead. The Specwar is now the H&K MK23 USSOCOM, and the rest of the KP8 / KP45 line will receive H&K USP markings as well.
