M203 Quality

Postby Raven-182 » Mon Jan 10, 2011 5:36 pm

So, im browsing around for launchers, and i find what happens to a be a monster of a deal. I plan on mounting it on my G3 through RIS, or to an M4 once i get one. But, what would you suspect the quality of this package to be? 135$ for a Long type M203, with two shells, and a barrel mount, QD mount, and an RIS mount. Heres the link.

It looks like it's a rebranded Dboys, which if it is, isn't a bad launcher. Mine was fine when I had it.

As for the shells, I have no idea.

Thats a great deal. I'd be skeptical of the shells though.

What i hear is the shells matter a hell of a lot more than the Launcher itself.

airsoft GI has it for $120.00 and a few reviews good and bad. Remember you get what you pay for.

I believe this statement to be true......heres why, the 203 tube is basically a piece of aluminum pipe. The shell itself is what has all of the "working" parts (most of). get good shells and that will make most of the difference. The Mad Bull PB4 shells are very versatile , you can use paintballs, BB's, powder (smoke) and use them to launch nerf footballs. They were designed to use CO2 and really sends the payload out there with a nicely loud bang when fired. I have 4 and highly recommend them ( 5-600 psi). FWIW I use a CA long 203 which nicely fits on an M 4.

I want to say I paid 75.00 for each shell. Worth it? you will have to decide that for your self.l

The mad bull shells are available most any where that sells mad bull, just look for the PB4 variants. ( mine came from precision & airsoft gi) They will charge with the 12 gr cartridges / charging unit, or better yet a paint ball tank and adapter/ pressure gauge regulator. ( cheaper in the long run. I cannot give you the weight of the 203 unit,, but they are not super heavy, just kind of bulky. Get the RIS variant so they will mount on a variety of weapons or one of the free standing mounts ( like echo 1 variant)rather than the kind that takes a weapon specific mount.

You can use the above device which has a dial so you can regulate the pressure that goes into the shell. I bought one then went to a paint ball store and got a 16 oz tank ( they are available in many different sizes). The tank has the same threads as the CO2 adapter. You just have a much larger amount of CO2 to work with. Either will work fine, I just got tired of all of the little CO2 cartridges ( and the expense) the tanks ( various sizes) are surprisingly inexpensive.

You want to be sure the shell is rated for CO2. If you fill the green gas shells with CO2, you will keep blowing out the seals.

I assume there are also green gas shells? because at this point in time, that would be alot simpler for me.

Never been a long term M203 user, but correct me IFF I'm wrong. Wouldn't it be better to buy CO2 rated shells simply because they can handle higher PSI and therefore are more durable?

A majority of the shells are designed to use green gas. The PB 4 ( and a few others) are multi payload and multi gas thus making them much more versatile indeed.
