1911 clip release problems

Postby Combs4027 » Wed Jan 05, 2011 10:03 pm

I have a WE Hi Capa P14 and a tactical drop leg holster for my right leg. Sometimes when im running, the holster will push in the clip release, therefore releasing the clip and I dont even know it happened. Since the clip release is on the left side of the gun, should I get a left leg holster?

Any help is apprecieated

First off, it's a magazine, not a clip. A clip loads rounds into a magazine, and is also an internal magazine. Never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever call a magazine a clip.

But aside from that it's because any other holster that is not a Serpa or a Safariland kinda, uh, sucks. If you're not left handed, don't get a left handed holster. Since the Hi Capa, as far as I know, is not a real gun, there is no Safariland or Serpa fit for a Hi Capa, unless you do some modification, so you'd need to just not have any magazine in the gun when holstered. Which makes any idea of fast drawing pointless. Here is my advice, get a Serpa for a 1911, and then sand the sides until your Hi Capa fits nice and tight, this way you'll be able to fast draw from your hip and your mag won't pop out. The reason it is falling out is because the gun is so insecure within the holster that, while you're running, your gun bounces about and one of the sides of it (in this case the one with the mag catch on it) and the mag flies out as you're running. Again, get a Serpa, sand it until your Hi Capa fits.

Do what Limpy suggested or get one of THESE. They are kinda ugly, but get the job done.

Hicapa's are based on RS race guns so while they do exist, the holsters meant for them are designed for speed, not security. I'd just get the magkeeper that G36 linked.

When you get a new sidearm, make sure you can get a good holster for it ;)

the mods on the holster need refinement, but should function. if you wanted to avoid messing with the trigger-lock as much as possible a set of tanio koba grips should function in the trigger-lock with only a little dremeling.

ebay banned sells a knockoff serpa for 1911s in black or tan. most people, including me, will say that you get what you pay for, but if you're willing to wait a really long time it's about $18 less than retail.
forgive my ignorance, it happens to everyone.

Jewish Ninja has a couple M9s, and they are pretty cool. Not my choice of secondary, but they are pretty cool. If you do get one, get a KSC or a KJW or something like that. Try not to get a WE. And if you get an M9 you should definitely look into a Serpa, I prefer them to Safarilands, and are fantastic holsters.

I would suggest a KWA m9, just because that is what I'm using atm, and I love it. The build of the actual pistol itself is very impressive, but KWA mags are a bit derpy.

I learned my $40 lesson with my 1911 KWA, lost a clip, I mean mag, at the farm. Get a serpa blackhawk, they are way beyond cool and totally worth it.

Speaking of KJW, they make a Glock 23 Upper receiver and a lower reciever, this might sound dumb but do they work together? Because I kinda want a glock and it fairley cheap.

Any suggestions?
