Small team out of Elmira/Eugene

Postby God » Wed Jan 05, 2011 8:13 am

19 and under preferred, sorry adults... We are currently high school students, I'll be 18 in April, so really we are looking for some high school aged guys or gals(to be politically correct and all that) in the Eugene area to get some mini-events in. For practice. If it looks like there is enough people, say 10 or so, we may make a small team. If not, just a group to practice working together with. This thread may or may not get pounded... But really, HELPFUL advice would be nice instead of saying we're doomed to failure...

Must own a functioning aeg or spring/gas bolt action. Suspected uniform will be woodland BDU as everyone has a set. Possibly if the team gets started, go for a casual look, ie, MoH's Tier 1 look or Green Zone's delta look. For now, we really need you to have AT LEAST BDU pants.

Looking specifically for a marksman(DMR preferred), and assault rifles. I doubt anyone will have a SAW, so that role will be neglected for now.

Now I read that we should have 4+ people... Currently, I admit it, there's 2 of us. Possibly 3 or 4 if we can get a couple paintballers to convert. For reasons I don't understand, paintball seems more popular in rural towns I've lived in.

My friend and I live in Elmira, so people within a 30min-45min driving distance radius is preferred, as we won't be coming to get you.

Rules:
The normal, be respectful, no stealing, no racism, no harassment(all kinds), etc.. This should all be "givens".

Come prepared, don't bs about how you "forgot" ammo or whatever.
We expect a certain level of maturity. I can't really explain this, mainly, act how you would in front of someone you respect.

PLAY fair, PLAY NICELY... =)

Age: 16?
But aside from that, and the typo of "covert" instead of "convert", figured I'd point that out with emphasis as you did on the last poster.
Good luck.

Wow, quit trolling dalb, there is nothing wrong with him posting up a fairly well rounded post of what he's looking to do. The only thing worse than some of the team threads lately is when people are jumping someones a$$ because they are bored or can't say anything nice. Quit padding your post count and being the grammar police lest people start going hyper critical on your posts. /rant off

Good day sir!

When you get the team rolling, PM DJ or myself and we can see about coming to play with y'all. DJ and the 1/4 of CAG are based out of Salem, and I want to see if youth can overcome old age and treachery.

As Darius mentioned one of the squads of C.A.G. (1-4) is based out of Salem. Most of our members (my self aside) are of your age bracket. We would be most pleased to have you come up to some of our functions (LOW II coming up in Feb, right on I-5) , We hold some of the CAG trainings at our farm near Salem, your crew is welcome. It would be great to come down south to your terrain too. Best of luck in your recruiting. Take a look at how some of the established teams conduct their business for some good ideas.
Take heart, we have a couple of recovering paint ballers! :D

Thanks for the invites DJ/Darius, IF we ever get anything running, we will certainly look in to getting some rides to Salem. I am, however, not sure of how many airsofters there are in my area. I think currently our best bet is to get some people in our tiny school to buy some JG/Cyma AKs and see if they like the game. Possibly even pull total newbs in to the sport. Because I myself am VERY much in to airsoft, my partner somewhat so.

Do you guys host games often? My friend and I may see if we can't go to one of your guys' games/training events for the experience. I have not been in a highly organized game yet...

If anyone who knows some Eugene residents or near there, could you drop them a pm or at least a link to this thread? Also, for the record, we are both in Elmira High School, if there happens to be anyone here on the forum in that area...

PS . To Dalb, I was typing that literally 30min after I'd woke up. So, considering that's the only mistake you caught, and a typo at that, I think it's okay... =)

CAG has something going on every month ( training) check out the AP calender for events, lots going on. As far as people down south. Snake eyes is our sniper / scout team leader out of Corvallis. I Know that Nox is south of you and runs a Russian themed team. I'm sure there are a ton of others that escape me at the moment. Hopefully they will notice what is going on and chime in. As for recruiting, make a poster with some digital photos of you and your buds in gear and post it at your school, church etc.....

I considered the school one, do you think a school would be too cool with the idea of students advertising for others to join/participate in a mil-sim team?

Another problem we'll have is finding a viable field. I can't, and tbh don't want to, fit 5-10 strangers on my family's 6 acres. So, where are airsoft events generally held? I could try asking the neighbors who have supposedly ~2000 acres, but I doubt I'd get a yes... Parks are obviously a no... Does BLM generally allow airsoft on their lands? There's a logging company's field of wood behind my house. No one ever goes up there, would it be illegal if we played up there out of sight?

Thanks.. I hope so too. Again, if anyone can spread the word to Eugene contacts(airsofters obviously) that'd be great.

BLM land is generally cool= public land. Scapoose field is a private logging co. , Longview Fiber. They were approached in a professional manner with waivers of liability and permission was granted. Re the farmers, approach them in a similar manner, offer to help them out, absolve them of any liability. The worst they can say is no. Same thing goes for the school.....go ask, worst they can say is no. It is all in how you approach them. Also go to the local pain tball shop, ask to leave a flyer and while your at it talk them into selling air soft stuff too! You would be surprised what you can do by just going in and asking. And lastly, six acres can be a very cool area if you do it right.

It's good to see more players popping up down here, second new team in the last month. We do a small skirmish or two a month at a local paintball field. You guys are more than welcome to join us, generally we post something on here letting people know.

TF141 is in Albany mostly but play with the eugene/springfield area a lot. Hit up anyone of them up and they could give you the line on some of the local players.
