Most money spent?!?

These threads don't make any sense to me. Are they supposed to be some sort of dick-measuring contest like who drives the most expensive car or who has the biggest flat screen? Shit, I've easily spent $8000 to $10,000 in the last five years on airsoft. That's plenty more than a lot of these guys saying $1500 or whatever. Am I now an airsoft god? Does the fact that I've spent more money on imported, poorly made toys than 95% of the people on AP make me a revered legend? Does it make me better than the guy with the Chinese clone and surplus BDUs? shazaam no.

Some people have a bunch of disposable income. Some people have very limited income. Some choose to spend what they have on fake guns instead of other things like a nice car or a better apartment or taking girls out to dinner. Some people prioritize their finances differently than that. For a lot of people, airsoft is a second or third hobby. So I guess what I'm getting at is what is the point of these kinds of threads?

Knowing how much someone has spent on the hobby doesn't correlate in any way to their integrity as a player or their knowledge or their character or any other facet of their involvement with airsoft and therefore whatever follows the dollar sign in their post is completely arbitrary and meaningless.

I seriously doubt he knows all about the geardo's within this community. It's an honest question, so instead of hammering him which has become a very prevailant thing to do here on AP...maybe answer or just ignore it.

It always blows me away to see and hear about the costs of some folks kit. What surprises me more is the constant turnover people have of their gear. Sell, buy, sell, buy....

Im completely new to this forum, and dont know squat about any of the members or the community itself. I just thought this would be an interesting topic to start. Not trying to prove a point or anything, just made it for the heck of it.

To be honest until I started building a new modern British loadout, I only spent probably a grand total of maybe $220 on my gun, magazines, gear, and clothing. Airsoft can be one of the most wonderfully cheap sports.

I don't think this post is annoying, merely rather pointless.
But, since I'm here, may as well answer the question.
I've spent perhaps $1000 tops on all of my airsoft equipment in over three years of playing. Win.
