Why?

So I'm just curious as to why anyone with an airsoft gun bought the one they did. And I don't mean because of brand name, FPS, internals, etc. I mean why buy that style of gun? Why an M4, an AK74, an AUG, an L96? This is just something that occurred to me recently, so I thought I'd ask.
AS for me personally, I have always been a fan of German-made weapons (cough, H&K, cough) as well as items that generally aren't often seen on the airsoft battlefield, which is why I went with an HK416. Sole problem being that everybody tends to mistake it for an M4...

I picked up an m4a1 first because an m4a1 seemed kindof off the standard what with everyone and their mother with railed tacticool m4s. now after the holidays i'll be switchin to a PDW because i lean toward a PMC loadout and the PDW looks like the best base for what i want to do with a rifle.

there are several reasons, sure fashion show might be the case for some but I would not consider that to be the biggest factor.

As for me and most of the people I know like a particular gun based on their military experience, real guns they own or what position they play on a team. To me fashion shows start when they have 2 scopes, laser, flashlight, m203.............stuff the really serves no purpose.

The bottom line is money, what gun gives you the best value for the dollar unless mom and dad buy the gun for you.

I buy what I like in the real world, which pretty much means most anything that isn't coated in rails. The only gun more than a top rail that I've bought was an MP7, other than that I prefer my guns plain. Everything I've bought I like the real gun of, so it's less performance and more what do I think looks cool. Hence why I made the mistake of acquiring a King Arms FA(i)L, but lord is that gun sexy.

I am a stargate SG1 fag, so I bought a P90 back in the day. I wanted something reliable, so I got an M4. I wanted something different, so I got a masada. I wanted to try out a SAW, so I got a 249 para.

My weapon purchase depends on what impression i am working on , then i buy the weapon that is used by soldiers the impression is of.

I wanted something different. So I got a TM G3 sas. I wanted something I could use, so I got the parts to turn it into a G3 SG1. I then got an SRC Ak47, slapped a side folding stock on it (got it with the under folding stock broken). I love the AK47 way more than the G3. I don't care much for how you have to reload the G3. I wish I had just gotten an Ak47 from the start, but back then I saw an AK47 as a "bad guy" weapon.

Oh yeah, and I got a P226r because it is easily the sexiest handgun that has ever been made on this Earth.

Like the rest of my gear, I got it for practicality and performance. CQB my main game so I went with the cqb style m4. Light, maneuverable, and the modularity of the platform is just outstanding.

I got a small commando M4, a M4 carbine, and an m16 a3. Why? Well because if i wanted i could easily upgrade them and there the most comfortable to hold IMO. An ergo grip and JBU rail set on a CA m4 commando is very comfortable...and sexy. Now you may argue that i could get an aug instead of an m16 because of the compactness. All i say to that is go shazaam yourself i like long rifles.

Because M4's are the most comfortable and modular gun I've used... They just make the most sense to get. I got my XM110 because it's pretty close to an M4, and, well it's just cool.

I got a G36 because back then everybody had an M4, and I haven't looked back (but somehow did manage to eventually acquire an M4).

Haha, at first glance this post made me think 'What the heck is this guy talking about?' But on second thought I think you may have something there, most people seem to go with the M4 over the M16...

SCAR-Ls look sorta cool.

M4s are the most versatile and, like League 4 said, comfortable firearm, real steel or airsoft, I have had the fortune of handling. So there.

Also Sigs are bleeding awesome.
