That is more of a test of the ingenuity of the photographer and marketing department than of the actual camouflages. Also not a very thorough way to tell what works.

Probably not, but maybe. Whatever it is, it won't look anything like MARPAT, AOR, or NWU 2/3. Because, you know, that would be bad and wrong, never mind that it works and already exists.

I dunno. UCP works pretty well in gravel parking lots.

Gonna be a whole lot of unhappy fobbits getting snatched up for shit details once the switch gets thrown.

Camo patterns side by side...AOR II, the current Universal Camouflage Pattern, Multicam, Desert Brush, UCP-Delta and Mirage.

Photos of camo are not exactly the same as actually seeing it in person.

There are differences between the way a camera lens works and the human eye works, so unless you see stuff being used out in the field personally, a photo isn't gonna tell you much.

True to an extent, however, a posting of a close-up photo of the camo patterns, so people can see samples other than a black screen in front of them, is better than not answering someone.

The Army gave UCP the kill note a long time ago, which is why we are using OCP (MultiCam) in Afghanistan right now. UCP can be very effective, just not very often. I'm glad the Army is finally realizing that there is not such thing as a "universal" camouflage pattern. The idea was to lower the cost to troops, and the Army of course, by requiring soldiers to maintain a lower number of uniforms.

ACU's will be around for a while though. With the implement of OCP pattern ACU's, the Army has been revising them based on input from soldiers in the field. Minor improvements, but improvements still.

Multicam is being issued to Army units currently deploying to Afghanistan, so I hear.

EDIT: All you silly west-siders and your hating on ACU's... I tell you, come to the dry side and see how well your MARPAT works in the areas we play.

Dang! That's a nice field..Having structures at our fields is hard to come by. We usually end up actually grabbing our carpentry tools and end up building everything...

Thanks Kev...I couldn't remember for the life of me what camo that was...Desert Brush.

My Multicam works wonders in Eastern/Central WA. ;)

Agreed :)

But for stuff like sand and sagebrush, absolutely nothing beats ACU's (in my opinion... and experience)
