Condor tactical boots, how good is the sizing?

Postby Deleteplz » Fri Dec 17, 2010 9:36 pm

I was looking at Condor Tac boots to replace mine currently worn out and dying boots.

http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.p ... cts_id=822

I normally wear a size 10.5 or 11 shoe, but I know a lot of combat boots sizing specs are out of wack, my Belleville 390 DES are size 9.5 and fit fine.

To you Condor boot owners out there, how is the sizing? How durable are they?

They dont last long, and they are very uncomfortable to wear for extend periods of time... ( 4-5 hours)

My experience.
Sizing was accurate.
The boots were fairly comfortable.
The quality equals the price.. In other words, they didn't last long.

My advice: Save your money and buy a quality pair of boots like Danner but if you are on a budget and looking for short term solution, Condor boots are ok.

ive been looking around at new boots myself. i still wear those cheapo RG boots i bought from you for $20, randal. ive been wearing them almost daily since i got them god knows how many years ago and they are a little worse for wear, but by no means falling apart. comfortable as hell too. just goes to show, sometimes you get more than you pay for.

ive also got a pair of tan belleville boots that i only wear for airsoft because they aren't comfortable enough. they cost three times as much as the RGs did new, and i wear them fractionally as much because of the difference in comfort.

go to big 5 and get some RESPONSE GEAR boots. I've had 3 pairs in the past 3 years and never had any problems except that I grow out of them. They're about 25 bucks, and you can try 'em on.

3 People in our Team use these (Including my self) and they are not bad at all for the price.

I do prefer leather Upper's more, but these are padded so they are very comfy.

I put them on and i wear them for hours and don't have problems with them.

Our team mates have had them for more than a year on some.

Josh, that's surprising. I had terrible luck with RGs and won't buy another pair, as for the Condors, if they aren't made that well, looks like I'm getting some Danners then. How are the sizing on those?

The soles on my Danner Strikers are already mostly worn away, and I've had them for less than a year.

I love my Danner Acadias. I've had them since 2002, and worn them nearly every day.

I've had them resoled a couple times, and it is coming time to do it again soon, by which time I'll have had them for 9 years.

$250 for the boots initially $50 every 3 years to have them resoled. Total cost: $400, over a period of 9 years that comes out to about $45 a year. I'd have to say that is a pretty decent value.

Another for Danner Acadia's. I got a pair for use at the fire station, and wear them almost everyday. Gor-Tex lined, comfy as hell.

Or look into Converse tac boots. I owned those for 2 years before I got my Danners. They are also comfy, and fit true to size. Since they are rough-out leather though they get stiff if you get them wet than dry them out. But I still enjoyed lacing them up everyday.

I have a pair of Condor boots I use(d) for CQC. Lightweight, comfortable, etc., but I can't speak much for the durability since I don't wear them much. They feel like sneakers on my feet, though.

As for Danner, I love the Ft. Lewis boots I got for Christmas a few years ago. While heavier and marginally less comfortable, they don't look much different than when I got them 3 years ago.

For what its worth, Danner has multiple different quality levels. The US made ones ( Portland) are the best and are resoleable . They have stitched on soles / welts. The ones with molded on soles are generally imports and of lesser quality. These shoes cannot be re soled. If you want the good ones at a lesser price, go on up to the factory store by PDX. they have seconds ( minor blems etc) at usually 1/2 or less than the originals I bought my Ft Lewis boots there in 91 for $100 (2nds)and am still wearing them, 3x re soles later.

Danner makes amazing boots, especially if you are willing to take care of them. Danner boots will generally outlive their soles many times. Boots are something to invest in. One of the larger causes of long term knee and lower back problems is poor choice/maintenance in foot wear.

The Ft. Lewis and the Acadia are both exemplary. After the wear in, they are easily as comfortable as sneaker boots, albeit a little heavier. I believe Danner also makes sneaker boots.
